Do not stay here!!Posted Aug 11, 2013
Pros: The room was clean and the restaurant at the hotel was very good.
Cons: There are several things that could be improved. I already mentioned them above.
Location: There was not a lot of things to do in this town.
We arrived at the hotel around 7. There was no one at the check out desk so we found the manager in the kitchen and he acted annoyed that he had to come give us the key to our room. He did give us the suite instead of the room because he said the room was not available. That was the only nice thing he did the whole stay. We arrived in our room and we were not very happy. It was clean and larger than we thought but there was no soap in the bathroom, they said they would charge an extra $25.00 if we didn't keep the kitchen clean, really??? There was no phone in the room, which normally I wouldn't really care but if you need something you had to go find the guy. We couldn't figure out how to use the TV and so my husband had to go find him and he was very rude. We went to sit down on the couch and it was a hide a bed and there was no mattress so when you sat down you about fell off the couch. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We were very disappointed and will never stay there again. The worst part of the whole stay was the manager and how rude he was. When my husband and I stay in hotels we are never the type to complain unless it is really bad. I cannot believe this hotel was rated 2 1/2 stars. It should have been a 1/2 star. I always treat people with respect and am very polite and I expected to be treated the same. If he was so stressed out and couldn't handle people then he needs to get out of the business or hire a lot of extra help. Thank you.

Wouldn't stay here againPosted Jun 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had to wait to check in because the manager was working in the restaurant. Not a huge deal, but still was about 15 minutes just sitting there. I understand these smaller hotels don't have the same amount of staffing that a large hotel would. I reserved a room with two queen beds. The first room he gave us had one bed. I said that wouldn't work and then he tried giving us a room with 1 queen and a sleeper sofa that was in a little sideroom barely big enough for 1 person. Finally, after complaining again, he did give us the room we reserved with 2 queen beds. Not sure why we didn't get that the first time. Hotel was a bit run down and the rooms looked and felt dirty - wouldn't bother staying there again.

great romantic escapePosted Feb 15, 2013
Location: close to Telluride without the takieness of Telluride.
My husband and I escaped for a Valentine's Day weekend and it was PERFECT! We were the only guests in the lodge. The caretaker, Bill, check us in even though we were a late arrival. That night we saw a fox at the hot tub! Bill cooked us breakfast that morning-a delisious keish and then french toast the next morning. The coffee was great. Its very rustic, which is exactly what we were looking for! The restaurant was the best food we had ever eaten! Only 20 minutes from Telluride, and totally worth staying out of the tackieness of Telluride!

Quaint mountain experience.Posted Sep 11, 2012 on Hotels.com
A beautiful lodge with friendly staff that made a perfect middle-of-the-route stop between Cortez and Telluride. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding. Dinner was fairly expensive but very good. Staff was very accommodating. It's easy to forget about Rico on this scenic route as just a town to blow through, but this hotel was a relaxing stop and nice surprise.

Reasonable price for an overnightPosted Aug 31, 2012 on Hotels.com
I thought the staff were lovely and breakfast was plentiful and dellcious! The room was comfortable though fairly spartan. I was bothered by a slightly musty smell, and couldn't open the window (some damage) to air it out. I would say it was convenient for an overnight on my trip, and it is probably an affordable option to nearby Telluride, but it is short on room ambiance. Being pet-friendly was a plus! Also, the restaurant attached is a great gourmet establishment, with a good bar and excellent food and service-I enjoyed having a delicious, "fancy" meal in a casual atmosphere.

when we arrived at the lodge we were tired and hot on our motorcycle the whole experience from start to finish was wonderful everyone was so friendly and we really felt at home. The restaurant was something we had never experienced we were pleasantly surprised. We were sorry we could not stay longer but we would like to go back when we can stay longer. A big thank you to everyone at the hotel!!!!

Quaint, Delightful & DeliciousPosted Aug 10, 2012 on Hotels.com
More like a Bed & Breakfast, if you like really your traditional hotel mod cons this place is not for you. Rooms comfy, cozy and clean. Absolutely wonderful included breakfast. Attached restaurant is pricy but certainly worth it as it is truly first rate!

Only place in townPosted Jul 25, 2012 on Hotels.com
We were disappointed. Our room was described like a 3 star and we barely found 1 star. Promised robes and refrigerator were non existent. The bathroom was so small you could barely close the door once inside. The cheap shower didn't even have a place to put a bar of soap. If the rate was cut in half my expectations would have been met, but this was a ripoff.

Had a very small room. They wanted to upgrade for $40.00 more dollars Checking in the manager was cooking and had to run to kitchen and left us hanging waiting to be checked in. Too far from Durango. Very bad choice for us.
