The Mountainside Inn is an affordable 83 room property with the majority of rooms being hotel rooms (most with kitchenettes), some one bedroom suites and a large, riverside 3 bedroom condominium. Guests can enjoy an affordable experience in the town of Telluride – only 200 yards to Lift #7 in the winter and along the San Miguel River in the summer. Amenities include a large outdoor hot tub, an on-site check-in, on- site staff, two outdoor BBQ grilles, picnic tables along the San Miguel river, an on-site washer/dryer, wireless internet connection, pet friendly rooms and limited on-site parking. Recreation

In the winter, the Mountainside Inn is located only 200 years from Lift #7 and offers ski in access. In the summertime, the property is located along the San Miguel River and adjacent to “the river trail” – which connects the property to town park, where many music festivals are held. Being located in the town of Telluride – access to hiking, biking, ice skating, cross country skiing is within easy walking distance. The complimentary town shuttle stop is one block away.

“Nice clean hotel for the price!”

This isn't a luxury hotel, but it is clean, comfortable and in a good location. It was perfect for what we were looking for and at a reasonable price.

“Good hotel for the price”

Although missing some perks (like A/C), the hotel was a good deal for the price. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was decently sized. Came with a kitchenette, with a stove, microwave, and fridge, which was awesome. Does have free wireless internet, which is a plus. VERY slow connection, but good enough for emails and such.

“A Pleasant Surprise!”

After comparing hotel rates in Telluride, I was nervous about booking this hotel. What we found upon arriving, however was a wonderful surprise! The hotel is old, and the floors creak, but the room was very clean and complete with a full kitchenette, two beds, and a perfect location! We were very pleased with our choice and very comfortable. If you're expecting a five star resort, go to Mountain Village. If you want a clean, comfortable, convenient place to stay, this is it! Thanks Mountainside Inn! We'll definitely be back.

Area recommendations

If you're staying in Telluride during the summer, try to stay near the San Juan River. The river trail that runs beside it is a beautiful walk, and everything is close enough to be accessible from it. Also check out the Bear Creek Trail for some breathtaking scenery and a gorgeous waterfall!

When to go

Monsoon season (early July) is a perfect time to visit Telluride. The wildflowers are blooming en masse, the weather is perfect, and the rains make the mountains glow! It's nothing short of paradise, and the scent in the air is intoxicating.

Getting around

Find a hotel or condo with on-site parking, or park in Carhenge at the edge of town. Everything is within walking distance, and there is a free gondola ride to Mountain Village that provides some amazing scenery.

Must see

Bridal Veil Falls at the end of town is a must. It's the largest waterfall in Colorado, and the power station above looks like a little white cottage hanging on the precipice of a great cliff. Beautiful! Also, the Bear Creek Trail provides some spectacular scenery, including a waterfall, abundant wildflowers, and magnificent skyscraping mountain ranges.

Dining

Be prepared to pay a lot for food in Telluride. You'll be hard-pressed to find any outstanding cuisine despite the high price tags, but some highlights include La Cucina De Luz, the Sweet Life, and Siam.

Family-friendly activities

The free gondola ride was a hit with my family. My four-year-old wanted to ride it over and over again. There is a rock climbing wall and a playground in Mountain Village, but not much else for kids there. The town of Telluride boasts the sprawling Town Park, complete with a playground, fishing pond, swimming pool, and more. The River Walk is an easy, kid-friendly hike, and if the water is high enough they might even find a place or two to splash! There's a great toy store in town, an art school with day programs, and the library offers plenty of weekend activities for young ones.

“great time in Telluride”

Mountainside Inn is not the fanciest of places to stay, but for the price the location was excellent. We were within walking distance to most of what we wanted to do, the Gondola is free, the Galloping Goose is also free transportation for when our feet were too tired to walk. We only drove our vehicle when we left the town to explore other places for our day trips. The bed was most comfortable. Our floor was a bit squeaky. We had the kitchenette which allowed us to microwave leftovers, or cook on the stove top. there is also a small refridgerator and sink. I especially loved the water pressure in the shower, it felt really good after a hot day of hiking. Note there was not a bathtub for soaking, but the shower was great. There is a hot tub, which we did not partake of.

Area recommendations

This is a nice location, close to everything or within walking or bikiing distance. Easy to get to transportation.

What to pack

The nights can get cool in July, but for the most part, we wore shorts and shortsleeve shirts with a jacket and umbrella for the unpredictable rainstorms.

“Not worth the price.”

Wifi was terrible and there was no comfortable chair. Room was dark and the television ancient.

“Comfortable and Quiet”

This was not a 5 star hotel but, for my purposes, it was perfect. I spent the days away in classes and returned in the evenings to a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.

“We will be back!”

Room was very comfortable, not very fancy but has everything you need. Front desk staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, especially Jeanie. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better, a short walk to downtown and very close to multiple hiking trails. The fall foliage in town is the best around, definitely something worth seeing. I would definitely stay here again.
