Beware of the photos!

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: Checking out.
This hotel looks great online. The fact is it overlooks the major highway to/from Phoenix on one side and borders on a cemetery on the other side which the photos purposefully do not show. The staff is generally below Marriot standards with a "so what" attitude; from the front desk to the maintenance people. A leaking hallway air conditioner unit was left to drip and pool water in the hallway for 2 days, and broken glass from room service trays left unattended in the hallways was ignored too. The hallways smelled musty. If you enjoy sitting in your "view" hot tub listening to the thrum of highway traffic, with a nonchalant staff, this is your place. Hardly a resort experience. We were told we could not sit outside at (un)Happy Hour, and sat inside with a view of the hill for 2 hours as 4 tables on the outdoor terrace sat empty. We checked out on day 2 and went to the Camelback Inn. Spend the extra money and head north to a real resort with properly trained, attentive staff and a clean, quiet invigorating environment. Buttes staff would not even assist in seeing if Camelback had rooms available or bother to call them, had to do it all ourselves online. When we checked out and explained why, Buttes charged us an 800 dollar cancellation fee, even though we were going to neighbouring Marriott!

Nice unique layout close to shopping and airport.

I wanted to stay somewhere that my wife and I could both enjoy, this was just what we like. The whole staff was happy and nice while accomidating to all our needs, we felt like staying longer. Nice unique layout but may be a little hard on the elderly because of the many levels. Would recommend this to many. Thank you!

Relaxing

Posted Mar 2, 2015
Pros: Location and amenities
Cons: Spa areas
Location: Close to spring training facilities
It was a nice relaxing place to stay but there was a bit too much PDA in the spas surrounding the pool. There were several instances where we just left the spa area due to couples being inappropriate.

Beautiful setting, great pools

Posted Feb 16, 2015
My husband and I stayed here over valentines weekend. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Love the hot tubs hidden in the rocks. Breakfast at the market cafe is fabulous. And burgers poolside are very good too. We would stay here again.

Excellent facility

Posted Jan 17, 2015
Pros: Breakfast buffet was worth the addition curious when it was booked was only for one though two of us traveled. Worked out okay but a little surprised
Location: Close to the airport and hiking, casinos, aviation boneyard was an added bonus!
Found the facility to be outstanding - only complaint would be the restaurant - found the menu to be limited and overpriced. Enjoyed the lounge bar more than the Top of the Rock featured restaurant.

Friendly low key hotel, good for short biz trip.

Posted Jan 16, 2015
Pros: The location and the quirky architecture, the pools and the breakfast.
Cons: The rooms need a total remodel, new lighting and new fabrics, They looked and smelled stale.
Location: I mainly went to the Cotton Center business district. ASU was a 10 minute drive.
The Room. My room was a bit disappointing. It was quite gloomy with smallish windows and low popcorn ceilings (8 feet). I could hear the roar of the freeway all night. It smelled of Febreze. The furniture and decor was tired and cheap looking, The bed was large and comfy if a little soft. The pillows were small and synthetic (not very nice). I was awakened a few times each night by the almighty clunk of the AC starting up (which then became quieter/normal). The wifi was really good and the TV was a good size and quality, with a good standard channel line up. The bathroom was small and gloomy with a 3/4 height wall to the bedroom. The small closet was inside the bathroom. There was a separate section with a sliding door for the toilet/shower. The Grounds Really unique and well maintained grounds with two nice free form shaped large pools connected by a winding "river" about 5 feet wide and 50 feet long. Water temp was great and I never saw anyone else in the pool. There is series of hot tubs around the pool. It was very attractive, at night time especially. I went running for a few miles one morning around the nearby business/light industrial area. There are not trails as such. It was fine in the early morning with little traffic and smooth roads. The Food The inclusive (in my rate) breakfast was great quality. Great selection of cooked food, breads, pastries, cereals , yoghurt and fresh fruit. Coffee was too weak. But you can order espresso to add to the weak coffee

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to share a review in regards to your stay. Overall it sounds like you really enjoyed your stay minus the dated feel of the guest room. We did recently complete the first round of renovations in the guest room and are getting ready to go back and update the bathrooms. With the plan for the bathrooms and change in artwork, mirrors, and bedding we are sure that the property will showcase to be the gem we are known to be, with the friendliest service hands down. Thank you again for your time and stay!
