Walk to the life-guarded beach

Posted Apr 23, 2014
Pros: Location and friendly staff.
Cons: Elevators were not always working and some of the breakfast food was not great.
Location: Beach, walking trail to Los Gigantos. We rented a car to go to volcano.
We enjoyed the clean hotel. We did the breakfast only stay with no extra activities. Breakfast was fine, lots of fresh fruit, you can have Ramon cook you an omelette. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Free wi-fi in the lobby, just ask for the passcode, it's not the obvious choice. Puerto de Santiago as a location is great. The area is family oriented, older folks too, not the rowdy party scene. There are several restaurants to choose from for lunch and dinner. Also, markets nearby for grab and go, cokes and water. Most everyone speaks English, try to use your Spanish but if you get stuck someone around will be able to help.

Nice hotel

Posted Mar 28, 2014
We had an issue with our reservation at the beginning but the hotel staff offered us some compensations as an upgraded room, spa access... We spent a very nice time. Staff was friendly, food good (not amazing but plenty of choice), facilities were nice and room clean. Just one thing that might be better: to get one bed instead of two beds next to each other and there were no transfer from airport so we had to pay taxi. But I definitely recommend this hotel as it is well located with nice people and clean spaces.

Good ambiance

Posted Mar 15, 2014
Pros: The sunbathing terraces away from the pool
Cons: The pool music was far too loud. Most dinners there were very few vegetables
Location: As we rarely left the hotel grounds it was perfect.
Spoilt by the fact that I contacted bronchitis the third day, plus it cost me e105 at the doctors recommended by the hotel.

Good Hotel close to all local amenities

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Location, seaviews, variety of things to do and spaciousness of rooms and public areas
Cons: Hairdryers in rooms not very efficient. More use could be made of piano bar area where there is ample space for dancing, entertainment etc.,
Location: Hotel is in Playa Arena, a quiet area near Los Gigantes but there are ample cafes bars and walks for the energetic.
When we arrived we were impressed by the reception area and facilities but we were disappointed by the room allocated to us.It was on the first floor overlooking an unfinished building site with no sun due to the location of the room. When we booked we understood that all the rooms were the same.We requested a change of room but were told that none were available and there was an extra charge for a seaview. After two days we eventually got a change of room and paid the additional cost. The room allocated was excellent and made our stay more pleasant. The weather was great during our stay and the facilities of the hotel were excellent with plenty to do if you wanted to join in or quiet areas if you did not. The food variation in the restaurant was good and the drinks service was excellent. We would definitely stay here again but would make sure that our room was on the seaview side of the hotel.

Average place for average price

Posted Mar 18, 2013
Pros: some sea view rooms have an amazing panorama
Cons: the choice and quality of the lunch and diner buffet is mediocre
Location: Very good location in Puerto de Santiago (small town) and a couple miles away from the beautifull town of Los Gigantes
The hotel is in a very nice location. The hotel lobby is impressive and extremely spacious. Pool and surroundings areas are lovely. Rooms are OK (except mattress) if you requested a sea view. Unfortunately 95% of the staff is not friendly at all. The food is extremely average with hardly any changes from one day to the next. The priority is to redress the tables as soon as possible with no customer service at all (the only words from your waiter are to take your drinks orders).Room cleaning is another let down (towels missing on a daily basis, bath not always done, had to ask for two days to get shower gel refill...) not to mention that it can take over five hours for your room to be cleaned. Overall nice for the eyes but not really anything else. Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Cheap price but cheap hotel. If you want fun and sun in a nice part of Tenerife but don't worry about anything else, hotel Playa La Arena is good enough. If you want a romantic stay, like personal touch, have standards or expect quality service...) look away now or you will be really disappointed.
