very nice/good value

Posted Jul 13, 2010
it's located uphill, easy 10 minute descent to city center, not so easy when you are coming back, tired from wandering. good services. breakfast and dinner are buffet style, but they are good. there is a Spar supermarket close by. the views are great.

Good price, great view

The location of the hotel is remarkble: on a cliff side overlooking the ocean and the city waterfront. The breakfast was very good and the room was clean and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony looking at the seaview.

Nice Hotel - not a great town

Posted Jan 11, 2010
The Hotel was very nice. A good location for Puerto de la Cruz with a 20 minute scenic path to the town centre. Puerto de La Cruz doesn't have a very nice beach but there is a really nice man-made Oasis. It's pretty built up and touristy. I would suggest renting a car to travel to other nicer beaches and to check out the Teide volcano. All the rooms have a sea view and the only sound at night is crashing waves. The staff were friendly and rooms clean. The breakfast buffet was pretty good. There are plenty of restaraunts nearby. It seems to be mostly Germans staying here so most of the TV channels are German. The pools were a bit disappointing. The nice one was freezing and the warm pool and lukewarm hot tub were only open until 7:00. There's also what looked like an amazing sea pool but it was closed for the season which was a drag. We flew into Tenerife Sur and caught the bus. You have to change in Santa Cruz which is pretty tricky and quite a long journey. So while the hotel itself was pretty good, if I were to go back, I'd try a different part of the Island.

Great Town - moderate hotel

Posted Nov 5, 2009
Dramatically situated on the cliff side with the entrance from the road at the back and reception on the 16th floor at the top of the building, means all rooms have a dramatic sea view; north facing. The location is easy for road access from the autopiste (motorway) once you have made sense of the roads, but parking at the hotel is very limited and street parking may leave you a few hundred metres away. There is a reasonable selection of shops and restaurants nearby, but it is quite a hike into the town centre where you will want to find the interesting shops, bars, restaurants and older parts of the town. We didn't try the evening buffet meal because we judged that you could eat more interestingly and cheaply in the town than in the hotel. Breakfast offered a seemingly infinite choice, but the quality was not exceptional - in particular, tasting what came out of the fruit juice machine led us to suspect that it hadn't got much to do with fruit! Generally this was a slightly dated, but well kept and comfortable hotel, that we chose because it came up cheapest as a last minute deal. Probably not one to choose if you want to spend you holiday within the precints, but a good base for wider exploration. Puerto de la Cruz is a lovely town; we've been there before and would want to go again, but, all other things being equal, wouldn't rush back to the Semiramis.
