Pros: Set in beautiful countryside in the middle of a golf course, which was very well maintained.
Cons: Staff training.
Location: About 15 minutes walk from Tewkesbury. Lots of places to visit in the area.
We are 4 mature women from different parts of the country who meet up now and again for a weekend. We had booked twin rooms but were shown to doubles. This was resolved quickly. We had booked B&B but the restaurant had us listed as room only! Obviously the administration needs sorting. We were told that the hotel had recently been taken over and there were some teething troubles, this obviously showed. However, we had a good meal in the restuarant on the first night which was reasonable priced.

Overpriced and disappointingPosted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: It was very peaceful
Cons: Total refurbishment and new chef
Location: Scenic location
I can forgive a hotel which has may be seen better days but there is no excuse for poor food. I ordered room service from the menu in the room which clearly said the toasties were served with "chips". When the meal arrived the toastie was stone cold served with limp, greasy, triangular "things". (cannot think of a more appropriate word) Certainly not "chips". The cheese on my cheesbeboard had also seen better days, it was not fresh in fact waxy and had just been taken out of the fridge, very cold. On checkout the next morning when asked if I had an enjoyable stay I had to mention about my disappointment with the food. I was told by the receptionist that may be "chips" meant "crisps". No dont pull that one - this is the UK!!! Both receptionists were very polite and just doing their jobs.

Handy for town centrePosted May 19, 2014
Cons: already stated
Location: was visiting my son who lives in Tewkesbury so cant really comment
The grounds were in excellent condition though I didn't get chance to play golf. However, other aspects of hotel ie rooms need upgrading to justify the price structure?

May bank holiday weekendPosted May 5, 2014
We had a great stay. Hotel staff were very thoughtful, friendly and efficient. Room was clean and overlooked beautiful grounds. There was an excellent choice of food and wine, really tasty. Thank you for a lovely stay, will be back!

A little tired but we loved it!Posted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: The facilities; the staff and the views. The rooms are lovely
Cons: Decor is a little dated and could do with a refresh. Beware bathroom locks, my son was locked in!
Location: You are close to Cheltenham which has many things to do. Tewkesbury is the closest town with its famous Abbey. Our children had a local riding lesson
We spent a two night break with our children, aged 10 and 13. Our initial welcome was warm, and that became the theme throughout our visit. The staff running this hotel were all so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our children had a fabulous time. The facilities are incredible: a 6 hole par 3 golf course; a good sized swimming pool; squash; table tennis; tennis courts. There is a small spa available for the parents. All the leisure facilities are free to guests, and there is also an 18 hole golf course on payment of a fee. The leisure club is open for drinks and snacks. The restaurant may not win a Michelin star but was tasty and we ended up eating in both nights. The decor is tired, and could probably benefit from a refresh, but we didn't mind, because the children were fully occupied.......and the views are incredible. We intend to go back which is a recommendation in itself.

Tired but a decent good value stopoverPosted Apr 14, 2014
The hotel looks good from the outside and then..we were given our key for the block next door. There was a really fusty smell as we entered the block but our room itself was comfy and with a nice view. The pool was ok but pretty chloriny and our kids eyes were pretty pink the next day. All in all a decent enough stay for the price we paid but i'd love to see this hotel invested and renovated from the inside out.

Large hotel, be prepared for a long walk to your room. Large comfortable room, getting a bit dated, good bathroom and all the facilities you need - food was not that good in The Green Room, did not have breakfast as it was way overpriced.

Friendly hotel, comfy roomPosted Nov 20, 2013
Pros: Very comfortable room
Cons: Lighting: the rooms are dark; and if walking back at night there's no road lighting. . A welcome guide to the hotel would have been useful.
Location: Tewkesbury Abbey is wonderful and the town has some nice antique shops. In Herefordshire, check out Goodrich Castle and Kilpeck Church
The hotel is a bit further out of the town than I imagined: about a twenty-minute walk. Check what's included: breakfast was extra (though good).
