Visiting friends

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Our only quibble was breakfast on our second day. First day we were offered a menu to choose from, but on our second day a hot buffet with very limited choice was provided. I am sure that , if there was something we particularly wanted, we could have asked. Staff were very helpful.

Excellent - but disappointed

Posted Oct 16, 2014
Pros: Staff, service and room
Cons: Ambience
Location: Close to Oxford.
We stayed one night before business in Oxford early the next day. Executive room excellent (though we did not care for peppermint soap and shower gel). Large firm and comfortable bed. Large flat TV. Wi-fi available. Hotel reception excellent. We ate in the bar. Food very good, if pricey. Service excellent. We did not make use of the spa or gym facilities - but they are there. Breakfast was the usual well-stocked buffet. So why, in the end, would we not go back on a future visit to the area? One was practical - traffic. It took us almost two hours to do the short journey into central Oxford the next morning. The other was hard to define, but the place seemed soulless. It was as if a 1960s office had been turned into an hotel. Despite the luxurious furnishings and the stunning views from the restaurant, it felt one was in an upmarket budget hotel - and it is anything but 'budget' price.

Wonderful hotel and great value for money.

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Beautiful location, great facilities, pleasant staff, good food and drink and excellent value for money.
Cons: The lobby area feels dated but apart from that nothing.
Location: I don't play golf (funnily enough) but I hear the course is good. Oxford is close and Thame and Aylesbury also near by. Very nice countryside.
I stay here almost every week on business and it is the best hotel in the Oxford area for facilities, quality, location and value.

Beautiful hotel with amazing views

Posted Aug 10, 2014
We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are spacious and beautiful as well as having an amazing room service menu. I only have a couple criticisms- The beds weren't overly comfortable and the pillows were real feather meaning I sneezed all night and sunk into them. Also I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have an alternative to dairy milk available at breakfast but not many places do I guess. Apart from that we loved the hotel and wouldn't let those things stop us staying again! Can't wait to return again soon! Thanks!

Top class furnishings, lovely bathroom, a bed the size of an aircraft carrier, even a balcony to sit on in the cool of the evening.

Nice Find but has potential to be better

The hotel itself is is amongst a lovely golf course and grounds. Its not the prettiest hotel but that doesn't matter. I never used any of the golf/spa facilities so I can not comment on them. The executive rooms are very spacious, the beds are large and the bathrooms are big with separate bath and shower which was very hot. What let the room down was the overall cleanliness. There were lots of marks on the walls/furniture and the room was a little dusty, however it looked good and the bed was clean. The staff were pleasant however on check-in i felt we were not given enough information regarding breakfast and facilities etc. Breakfast was good with a nice view over the golf course. I would stay here again but it wouldn't be my first choice.
