Tremendous location

Posted Oct 30, 2014
Pros: Location on a lake with great views Clean and comfortable rooms Friendly Staff Quiet
Cons: Many of the facilities are dated. Upgrades are planned Musty smelling hallways No elevator to the second floor.
Location: Many good restaurants. Outlet Mall Lots of woods to hike
This hotel has a tremendous location on a small lake. Literally on the edge of the lake. Our off season visit didn't give us a chance to enjoy too much of the lake. The rooms are updated and clean. I didn't find wi-fi. The hallways are a bit musty smelling. The breakfast room has great views of the lake and a decent fare (no hot food). The staff told us that they are embarking on a lot of renovation to update the facility. Some of the needs are obvious. The restaurant/bar was closed because of some type of equipment failure. If they can pull off the renovations this will be a super place to stay. It is near the center of Lee MA. There are many restaurants in the area. There is also an Outlet Mall very near.

Great Location but tired hotel

Posted Oct 22, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: As above the building looks like it is in need of a major refurb
Location: About a mile from the centre of Lee and about 2 miles from outlet shopping centre
The hotel is ideally located about a mile from the centre of Lee with adequate parking. Although they are trying to make the hotel comfortable the building looks in need of a major refurbishment. although once inside this was less noticeable. The staff were brilliant both at check-in and any other time we needed them. We didn't use the restaurant/bar facilities.

Wonderful beds.

Bed and linens were very comfortable. Room a bit small, but very nice. It had everything we needed. Location was great. Breakfast was average.

Pros: location
Cons: better lighting in the parking lot at second entrance. My husband fell off the curb at night walking out to the car.
Location: great location - spent time at the Cranwell (wine tasting), Red Lion Inn (nightly entertainment) and charm
Good experience - great location, friendly staff, beds were very comfortable. Room very clean....

Overpriced

Posted Sep 20, 2014
Pros: It was clean. It is in a nice location. The view of the lake, which we did not have from our room, is beautiful.
Cons: See "Experience" comments above.
Location: It could hardly be better.
It was barely acceptable. The room was mediocre: o No fridge o No microwave o No view o Bath towels were rough Continental breakfast was awful...unacceptable! It was terribly overpriced for what we got.

I apologize on behalf of the Black Swan Inn for failing to exceed your expectations. To clarify, all of our guest rooms have in room refrigerators. They are located underneath the TVs in the room. For the rest of the issues, I am truly sorry. I hope to see you again in the future.

Undergoing Rehab

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Pros: Water view balcony, helpful hotel staff.
Cons: Hard to say, the rehab is not complete so I do not know what the final product will be like
Location: The Clark Museum is 35 to 40 minute on Route 7; The Rockwell Museum is less than 30 minutes away.
The hotel was undergoing rehab. The restaurant, BOMBAY, had just reopened. The staff was short handed, service was very slow, many of the personnel could not speak English to explain the Indian items on the menu. It was a very poor restaurant experience. This may change when the restaurant is open a few days, fully staffed and running correctly.

Great service and well done renovations

Posted Sep 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
We were very pleasantly surprised because we had not researched this hotel in advance; we just drove up one evening after a long drive from across the border. The front desk staff are very pleasant and welcoming. The rooms had been renovated recently and some good choices were made in surfaces, fixtures, appliances and furnishings. Only thing I would add would be some luggage racks and to redo the grout in the bathroom floor but that did not take away from the overall experience. We were upgraded to a lake view which had a nice little deck with new table and chairs and (due to some diligent sweeping) there were not even the typical spider webs and bugs that one normally finds on outdoor porches! Lovely view too! We liked it so much we returned a few days later on our trip back home.

Good enough value

Spring for the upgraded room. The view from your porch of the lake is lovely from those rooms. Cleanness is just acceptable. Staff are accomomodating. The whole place needs refurbishing. But the beds are excellent the restaurant is good and it's minutes from Tanglewood
