We are sorry you did not have the best possible experience at our inn. If you had booked directly with us rather than a 3rd party, it might have been more obvious that we have 3 buildings on the property and that choice of rooms/location is up to you. We had plenty of open rooms in the main house to move you to, had you expressed this concern at check-in. Concerning landscaping and power washing.... this is a transition moment from winter to Spring and our landscaping and cleaning is currently a work in progress.

We are sorry your expectations were not met. Honestly, we did not see you after check-in, and you missed both mornings of breakfasts, so had you tried our breakfasts or interacted more with other guests, your score might have been higher. You stayed in an older room. The house is 120+ years old, so there will be creaking floors, etc. We DO have 11 rooms (of 14) which are more modern - so this review has more to do with the specifics of this room, and not the inn overall. We will look at what we can control - like the shower curtain. And thanks for saying everything is clean. I think we do a really good job with the issues we can control.

Thank you for this feedback. You took our "mini-suite" which consists of two small bedrooms and a bath for the price of a single room. It should be expected that each bedroom would be small, and the photos bear that out. The home was built in 1897, and as updated as it is (our TripAdvisor score is 5/5 over 900 reviews), it is still an older house, compared to a new construction hotel. And had you checked rates you would find our inn is priced in the middle of the pack in Lenox. So although all reviews are legitimate and welcomed, a context must be placed over this review. And why "anonymous?"

This is a positive review with a low score. We are glad this guest appreciated our location and pool. Mattresses, however, are a personal preference. We use Sealy Posturepedic Plush mattresses. Of course, we would not know if a mattress is worn, so we do rely on guest feedback. I asked the next two couples who stayed in this room their opinion about the mattress, and both liked it. One said they had commented to each other how comfortable it was. Therefore we have to conclude that this guest prefers a certain type of mattress, and we want to correct the impression that we do not stay on top of something important like mattress quality. Additionally, we have some bed boards available. If asked, I could have probably been able to help, and avoid this review.

We strive for only 5/5 reviews, and wish "anonymous" would have given us some more feedback on why this review is not perfect. We make a promise to all guests - before arrival by e-mail - that we will do everything possible to correct any issues they find. We wish we had had that chance.

We are sorry there were issues with this guest. Firstly, a lot of important points got positive checks: well decorated, room size, room cooling, walking distance to dinner and theater, comfortable bed.... If this guest only stayed one night, then he did not have a chance to see that our breakfast buffet changes daily. The room he stayed in has an extension cord next to a night table for phone charging. I am sorry he did not see that....and the shampoo here is a shampoo/conditioner combination. All tvs on the property have been upgraded to HD flat screens. The bathroom is still "historic." We chose to re-porcelin a beautiful, deep, antique claw-foot tub rather than replace it (which would have been cheaper). It also has a shower head, but claw-foot tubs have to have a surround shower curtain - and that certainly can cause a complication for someone who needs to hold on to something. For those who might find that an issue, we have 13 other rooms.
