A good location for the Burren and the Cliffs of MPosted May 26, 2012
Pros: The location.
Cons: There is no elevator. It is long way from the car park to the registration.
Location: Central to the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher.
There is no elevator in this hotel, so if you are on the 2nd or 3rd floors be prepared to carry your luggage up a narrow stairway.

Very convenient location. Staff were lovely but the hotel needs a lot of maintainence work done, especially in the rooms. It seems to have gone to seed a bit.Too expensive for the standard of hotel - have stayed in much nicer hotels on the continent for same price or less.

Perfect HUBPosted May 13, 2011
This was the best place to stay! The service and staff were the friendliest people! They really show you how to relax and enjoy. The food was awesome. If you want tradition, stay here. Try the IRISH STEW and the FISH and CHIPS! The location is perfect: nearby- Cliffs, caves, perfume factory, salmon smokehouse, and short drive to Galway pub hopping on Quay Street. I can't recommend the freindly accomodation of the staff enough. Stayed here on Easter Weekend and church kitty-corner across the street was even welcoming. Hotel description said bath only en-suite. We had full bathroom with shower/tub. This was one of our favorites!

Hylands Burren HotelPosted May 10, 2011
My partner and I booked a 3 night stay at Hylands Burren Hotel in Ballyvaughan. It is a beautiful area of natural beauty. The hotel receptionist was very friendly. Our room No 42 was on the ground floor, small, dark, dingy and had cobwebs on the curtain rail. I complained to the receptionist, but she could not move us until our last night as the hotel was full. There was a general air of neglect about the hotel and no where comfortable to sit and read. The breakfast was just about adequate, although served by a delightful lady. The outside of the hotel has big planters but nothing growing in them. Not a flower or plant to be seen. Given that we were in the Burren, it just seemed lazy and neglectful. On our last night we dined in the hotel. Bar style food. We both had fish and chips, which was small and very expensive at €15.50 each. Given that prices have come down dramatically in Dublin, I feel that they need to be more competitive. All in all we would not stay there again or recommend it to others.

Past its bestPosted May 27, 2010
Hotel was advertsied as 3 star but lack of maintenance had degraded this status. 2 rooms were booked: Room 1: Room itself was musty and decor dated, bathroom flooded when shower was used (floor was covered in lino)TV did not work. Room 2: The room was a converted storage room (no TV or interior decor), the bathroom adjoined the room but did not have a closable access door and shared the alcove with what appeared to be the hotels computer/security systems. Did not believe the rooms measured up to a 3* quality hotel. Staff were friendly and breakfast good.

We had stayed at the Hyland 13 years ago and had always wanted to go back. We were not disappointed.
