The staff/GM wife and husband team are not very kind. We had an issue with dirty coffee cups 4 out of 4 were filthy. The treated my 19yr old daughter like she didnt matter. She shouldnt had gotten the third degree for bringing them up to the front desk. Heaven help if you ask for an extra cup of coffee in your room. 1 each no more. I wanted to take a picture of the cups and they wouldnt let me. I finally did and the old couple who ran the place hot mad because I wanted to post them. They proceeded to tellme that they were the owners of the entire hotel chain. I was recording a video at the time they said that they own the hotel. It was really stupid for all this to happen. But they nees to learn not to disrespect people. They thought since my daughter was young(19) that they could do that. I recommend american to stay away, they are to stern, this hotel is just the opposite on how American hotels are ran. Look at their reviews, Im not alone.

Lovely facility. Large rooms, quiet. Bathrooms could take some freshening up to bring them to the level of comparable hotels. And somehow the place feels understaffed. My room had a non-working safe, so the first solution was to give me a separate room key to a room with a working safe, before finally just moving me. Apparently no one was available other than the receptionist to help me repack and move, which I felt bad about. Housekeeping seemed rather inconsistent as well, with coffee cups not changed and coffee supplies not replenished. I asked for sheets to be changed and they were not. But overall, a very pleasant stay in spite of these shortcomings.

My sons are chefs so I know what look for and expect with any meal. Unfortunately, this property needs a refocus! If want a beverage or coffee, perfect!! Breakfast - very good!! Other meals?? Try the Bishop in Leiden!! Insider tip! I could elaborate but go somewhere else dinner!!

Just returned after a short yet enjoyable stay. Lovely setting next to the water, easy to find and plenty of parking. Helpful staff, lovely room with comfortable bed, would stay again. Suggestions to improve further would be bottled water in the room and a bit more light.

All out hotel rooms have a vintage carpet, information about the carpets can be found on the desk in the rooms, unfortuantely this is not your taste. My collegue has tried to fix the television after you informed our reception staaf, but unfortunately we were not able to repare the TV. We offered you to switch to a different room, but your answer was no unfortunately no. We hope to welcome you in the near future in a clean room with working television. Lovely hotel by the water
Great hotel, everything was really well done. Fine room, good foood, lovely location. About 2 miles from central Lieden but he hotel put on a free shuttle to the centre and to the station. Would definitely come back

Lovely location and pleasant staff and a good stop over on the way back to Rotterdam but it was expensive compared to the hotel van der Valk in Zwolle where we stayed the night before and the food in restaurant was poor however it was lovely sitting by the water and near the town

Lovely place to stay on the canal so you can watch the boats barges & the bridge over the canal lifting for them whilst enjoying your meals. Hotel rents bikes .Electric one we had was a lot of.fun as cycle routes marked out for you so you can go for miles. Bikes have their own roads so you're not on any main car roads, What's not to enjoy.

Great Location
Hotel is in a great location. All the staff were very friendly & helpful. Our room was comfortable & quiet. The shower is small & would be difficult for elderly to get in & out of. It would probably be better to replace the tub with a good size walk-in shower like most hotels are now doing. Overall great place & would stay here again.

Our second visit - the first 10 years ago. Although the town is growing and evolving, this hotel remains reassuringly the same. The rooms are lovely (although the bathrooms a little dated) and the breakfasts cannot be beaten - the choice is staggeringly huge. The dining room is ambient and relaxing, overlooking the canal, which is always picturesque and full of interest. Only disappointment was that although we had breakfast at 7am on our last day (as we needed to leave early), we were told rather sternly that all the tables beside the windows overlooking the canal were reserved. No-one arrived for breakfast while we were eating - it was too early for everyone else! And a window seat is not possible for dinner if there are only two of you, as all of them seat four. Although the days and evenings were warm, the doors to the terrace were locked and dining beside the canal was not allowed, which was puzzling (we were allowed our coffee al fresco though). The food however, is delicious and the evening waiting staff excellent,warm and friendly. The ‘extras’ are quite pricey - breakfast is £14.50 extra on top of the room rate, which does add up. Even so, we would book again in a heartbeat. The location is perfect for visiting Amsterdam, the beaches and Keukenhof gardens - and Leiden itself (home of Rembrandt) is delightful with a fantastic Saturday market.

Basic facilities lacking in the room! Outdated kettle.! one !! yes one coffee per person two sugars per person for all. In comparison to Belgium van valk shabby. And twice the price. No wonder no one there and oosterkamp full!!!

Really nice hotel close to downtown Haarlem.
Super nice hotel! Way above average all-you-can-eat breakfast. We walked to downtown Haarlem on New Year’s Eve and watched the town explode in fireworks. Loved it!

Excellent hotel with great restaurant
Very comfortable spacious room. Excellent restaurant overlooking the river. First class cuisine and service. Try the 3 course chefs surprise dinner! It was a lot of fun and great food. Parts of the hotel date to the 1700s and have beamed ceilings and a big old fireplace.

Lovely hotel - not near the centre of Leiden
The hotel itself is lovely. The room had a huge jacuzzi bath, a large shower, a comfy seating area and a small balcony. There was a coffee machine as well as a kettle. Breakfast was good value - although what was available seemed to depend on the time of day. On the Sunday there was a man making fresh omelettes. We had to ask for this on Monday and it did not seem available on Tuesday. There was a good selection of fruit, yoghurt , pancakes, waffles, cold meat and cheese and hot food. All staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel was further from the centre of Leiden than we had expected - it would be useful if the shuttle bus was to run in the evenings and on Sundays. We had a very good meal in the brasserie.

Lovely Hotel in Leiden
Booked originally for 2 nights in this hotel, but came back after a trip to Amsterdam for a night, for another nights stay! Our room was a good size and very comfortable - the balcony overlooked the road, but we were able to see the lift bridge!

Excellent property. Lovely rooms and a cheerful staff. We stayed here during a conference and found it tailor made for all our needs. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Leiden.
