Nice staff and fantastic surroundings

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: It is very quiet, away from the main road, the food is very good and the staff make you welcome. There is good wifi available but weak mobile signal.
Cons: The hotel is very old and some of the facilities are in need of a bit of work.
Location: Very quiet with fantastic gardens. The hotel is steeped in history and has appeared as the backdrop for a number of television shows.
This is a lovely hotel but is in need of some refurbishment, The staff are fantastic , very courteous and pleasant to deal with. After a minor hiccup with the heating in my room things went well. I had a room in the courtyard and the facilities are ok but the walls are very thin, the consequence being you hear just about everything that happens and is said in the rooms either side. That aside the surroundings, gardens, history and tranquility of the place make up for its shortcomings. I had a great evening meal and good breakfast the following morning. I will stop there again in the future.

Nice hotel, upgraded to a suite after our booking was lost. I would not have paid £250 for the suite we were located in the furnishings were basic. Service at breakfast was very slow. Overall a good stay for a wedding but I would not seek this venue out unless convenient for a local meeting

Lynford Hotel

It's just another pretender in the "Great Englishness" stakes...well built...shoddy furnishings...old...decrepit...and not particularly well lokked after (the building). It is set in a beautiful landscape tho...might just be enough for afficianados but if you're paying north of a hundred pounds for accommodation then surely you expect a little more
