A good hotel, but missing a couple of things

Le comte rouge (the red count, the hotel hinting, by some of its decor, at some ties to nobility) is well located, a short walk to the train station and is a couple minute walk from the commercial part of the town of Thonon-les-Bains and about 15 minutes walk from the thermal spa. In order words, everything is close from that hotel. The service is friendly and great and for the price, it is a good deal. So what is missing? Well, if your room is on the 3rd floor and you have heavy bags, a lift would be nice. It's stairs only. The other thing -- and I am not sure if it is entirely fair as we were there in late July where it was really hot (30+ C), is some air conditioning. The room was brutally warm most of the day and evening and it's only after midnight and before sunrise that the temperature got bearable and keeping the room's sole window open proved difficult, since there is a lot of traffic and people carrying on long conversations until 2:00 AM. I would like the opportunity, should my professional travels require me to, to be in Thonon-les-Bains in winter and see what a factor the room temperature is. But overall, my wife and I were satisfied with our stay despite the two missing things.

Close to station and town centre

Good size room for two star hotel, small bath but good shower. Breakfast was ot included in the room rate but good choice and plenty to each for the price. Very handy for the railway station and town centre.
