Clean hotel in a central location.

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: The hotel was at a convenient location and water slides.
Cons: The life guard.
Location: The location was good - we went to the Terry Fox Monument, Amethyst Mine & Kakabeka Falls. Mostly central location and close to some shopping.
The hotel was clean, friendly staff at check in & check out, kids loved the pool area. A manager came a few times and asked how our stay was. The only thing was one of the life guards was very irritable. The location of the hotel was very good.

Nice but...

Posted Jul 28, 2014
This place needs a little more than a facelift. The staff was elusive about free breakfast, most hotels in this price range offer this... Not here, but to have to press them before they will admit it. Room was non smoking, but smelled of smoke! Phone would not work until I phoned the staff from my cell phone ??? Noisy late night wedding was not appreciated. Never again for me.

reasonable hotel for reasonable price

Posted Jul 28, 2014
The staff were all helpful and friendly. There was a wedding reception taking place in the hotel and staff were seen on various floors just maintaining a presence. This sure helped the non wedding guests also enjoy their stay. The pool had life guards and was well maintained. The beds were comfortable, plenty of pillows and clean room. There was an odour in the room - which smelled like the carpets had been cleaned but not fully aired out.

Close to hotel, room smelt musty.

Posted Jul 26, 2014
The room smelt musty, we were able to open window to freshen room. We had a 5:30 am flight so we really needed our sleep but hotel was very noisy, people in hallways, door slaming etc. all night.

Cons: The A/C.

No real problems other then the a/c needed to get looked at. It was ok, we were able to get by. I did notified the front desk when we left.

Overnight visit to Lakehead

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: The room was okay. Just what you would expect, nothing more. The bathroom had been recently re renovated and it looked great.
Cons: Update the bedroom area. Better temperature control in the rooms
Location: The south end of Thunder Bay is not the nicest, but that is where are the hotels are located, steps away from the airport. The north end is pretty.
People were very friendly. Hotel was okay. A lot of fast food places around the hotel. We had to go further into Thunder Bay to find some nice restaurants.

Upsetting

Pros: The restaurant is nice.
Cons: clean the rooms and fix things.
Location: restaurants, the mall, casino, Terry Fox monument, The Kekabecca Falls
Upon arrival my husband checked us in and we had a Jr. Suite rm when we went into the room it was not what I would call a suite. It was just an average room. Carpet needs to be cleaned big stains. No microwave it did have a fridge. The pull out couch was not in the best of shape. I always check for bed bugs and the mattress cover had hair in it. The comforter was stained and the coffee pot was disgusting inside where the water goes. My husband brought the coffee pot down to get a different one and the lady behind the desk said oh she would have another brought up to the room. Well it never came so when we checked out he explained what happened and asked for a letter so we wouldn't get charged. In the mean time the maid came and put one down and my husband said he would bring it up they said no it's OK and he insisted so he knew it was put back so we wouldn't get charged. The shower door had to be held so it would stay closed. Or it just slides open. The restaurant was nice and the staff very friendly. The hot tub was ok lots of kids though so if you want a relaxing stay this is not the hotel for you. You can also hear everything in the room next to you and in the halls so bring ear plugs. If you are traveling with kids then you would like this hotel. It has a slide and life guards on duty. The pool closes at 10PM your room key will not let you in after this time.
