Great location but

It's conveniently located between the station and the old town. The building is full of character, the bedroom was clean with free WiFi (they gave me two passwords, one each for my iPhone and iPad), and the inclusive breakfast was more than satisfactory. Apparently both restaurants downstairs are highly rated. I had a really nice dinner at Der Zwinger. If only they had English menu. Negative points: The bathroom was pretty basic with a shower only. The picture quality of the old bulky TV was terrible. The batteries of the remote controller were almost empty, though they were replaced while I was out after I complained to the receptionist. They charged me the tax which was supposed to be included in the rate ( I didn't argue as it was only a couple of Euros but I confirmed it later on Expedia). I wonder if I should have stayed at other hotels nearby: much luxurious looking Steigenberger whose rate was about the same as Kaiserhof or plain but definitely cheaper City closer to the station.

A little out of the way for touring.

An older, but clean hotel with helpful, pleasing staff. Located just outside Main Gate to the city. Unfortunately it is located near the train/ bus station and on a main traffic route. Since a/c was not apparent, we had to keep windows open and the traffic noise continued late into the evening and restarted around 5:30 am. The 5 Euro breakfast buffet is a deal. Most historic sites are within walking distance.

Eisenach is a pretty small town, so most places will be well located. The room was spotless, the staff were friendly. No air conditioning, as is usual in Germany. Difficult to see what the basis of the 4 star rating was. I'd say it was a good quality 3 star.

A nice place in Eisenach

The Kaiserhof has that sort of "run-down elegance" feel to it. The public areas looked as if they may have been "grand" in the early 20th century, but now they feel like a larger version of your grandmother's parlor. The staff was very helpful and the hotel's location is excellent - midway between the train station and the center of town, and steps away from the bus stop to the Wartburg. Our room was small, the bathroom was tiny and the shower even tinier, but all was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was pretty good and not too expensive. A pretty good bargain in a lovely little town.
