Older, but nice hotel in center of Tiberias

Posted Apr 27, 2014
Pros: Great staff and very accommodating to our family. Nice room and good food in restaurant
Cons: continue to update older hotel.
Location: not too close to many things, but we had a car to drive to things.
We selected this hotel as choice was at a minimum due to Holy Week. We stayed two night arriving on Passover. The front desk manager was very helpful when we asked about dinner in the hotel restaurant. Although the restaurant was set for a private Passover dinner, the staff accommodated our very hungry (Christian) family after a day of travel. They seated us in the lounge area near the bar as the dining room was all set for the private dinner. We had a wonderful dinner and the staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. We had the BEST dinner for the price during our week long tour of Israel. The hotel is old and a bit date, but our room had been updated some and was very clean. We had a large bed with just enough rooms for 2 rollaway beds for the kids. Very nice clean bathroom, too. Good value for families.

Best bank for buck

Very accomodating, pet friendly, clean room, nothing fancy, but practical. On the negative side water pressure was low and the swimming pool was not always accesible. The breakfast was dissapointing as the food did not seem fresh and it was the same selection every time.

A good choice for a basic hotel

Posted Jan 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
The room was adequate but modest in every way. The outstanding aspect of this property is a varied and tasty breakfast to start the day. It is a 20 minute walk to restaurants at the Promenade but there are many good ones to choose from.

A pleasant surprise

Posted Dec 30, 2013
Pros: The beautiful art work. Rooms were comfortable, but you still needed to request a hair dryer.
Cons: WiFi was slow and kept disconnecting, but was free all through the hotel.
Location: It is a bit too far from the Bahai to walk there as well from the German Colony. Perched on a hill there is little to do in the area withouth a car.
The Art hotel is a quaint boutique hotel with numerous wonderful and creative pieces of art everywhere including the rooftop terrace which has a nice view of the Haifa harbour and the Bahai temple. The parking is a bit tricky to find but at least it is there and free. The breakfast was also tasty and plentiful.

Very enjoyable stay, within 20 minutes walking distance from the town centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful, ideal base for traveling around the sea of Galilee and the Golan.

Nov 2 night stay

Not bad for the money, nothing impressive but adequate. I'd stay here again, comparable to a Comfort Inn in the USA. We we're renting a car on our own and found it quickly, but it took 10 minutes to figure out how to find the driveway entrance.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel which was handy to go into town, a 15-20 minute walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel for a base to travel around the Galilee and Golan regions. Breakfast was a good star to the day, the hotel was clean and tidy.

Astoria Galilee Hotel

Posted Nov 16, 2013
Pros: It is within walking distance of local dining and shopping.
Cons: The bath tub was dangerous to get into and out of. They need to put some non-skid strips on the interior tub surface.
Location: Tiberius is a good base from which to explore religious, historical, and cultural sites in Galilee.
The Astoria is an adequate, economy hotel. It may have provided more luxurious accommodations several decades ago, but is now what I call a "faded glory" hotel. It was worth the price we paid, and that included an adequate breakfast daily. The staff did not seem particularly friendly, but that may be my perception due to the language and cultural differences. The hotel is hard to find, especially at night. We were in a rental car, and made several passes by the front of the hotel, but could see no place to park or to turn in. It finally dawned on us to look for an alley to turn into and approach the hotel from the back. Parking is anywhere you can find it. We found a small, protected alcove behind the kitchen area, and that proved to be a fairly secure place to leave the car each night. The room we had was okay, but I was concerned about the door lock, which was a simple doorknob lock, with no other way to secure the door, other than to move a piece of furniture in front of it. The pool was only open from 3-7 PM each day. Breakfast was included in the price and it was satisfactory.

Great Hotel

Highly recommend this hotel especially if you are there with a group, and also it is very family friendly. The buffet breakfast and dinner are great and a good way to unwind after touring all day and the pool is a great plus and clean. The marina is about 3 miles down the road but there is a bus stop right out front with many busses heading down or what's better take the shared taxi both arevery cheap. YThe rooms are nice and clean and the service was outstanding I asked for a refrigerator to be put in my room after arriving and it was in my room in thirty minutes, can't say enough about this hotel.

1 Day Overall Mess

Posted Aug 8, 2013
Pros: Seriously nothing
Cons: Putting soap and conditioner in the shower and more towels.
Location: Far away from center of the city or the lake, around 20 min walk and if you are coming back on foot then there is a long way to the top.
I was staying for 1 night. We arrived by public transportation and the hotel does not have any clear directions on how to get there (Google maps shows the location but all there is when you get to the location is a sign in an old door) so it can be pretty confusing. We got there at around 1PM ( Expedia sites states check in to be after 1) . The reception took around 10 min to find our reservation! She gave us the key of our room . The room was not ready and it was not clean yet! 1min afterwards I see the Hotel is calling and she tells me that the check in is only at 2pm, (Ok no problem with that, but why give me the key of a room that was not ready and if you knew check in was at 2pm then why not let us know and we could have waited in the lobby, and not even that, the receptionist started blaming me that I arrived too early!!! Only in Israel seriously guys, she did not even offer any solution and we just went to grab launch and we came back to the hotel). After that first bad impression the pool was nice but not great (I noticed they were non guests from the hotel that were in the pool, as they looked they were the pool guy friends, so it was pretty annoying, it makes you feel that anyone can come into the pool and into the hotel). Breakfast was overall OK, staff was more caring. Overall not staying there again and would not recommend it to one of my friends. Shalom!
