Great hotel for little money
The hotel staff were fabulous, especially the breakfast server! The buffet meal was fantastic! They had a working elevator. The room was roomy and had its own kitchen!

A nice older small hotel that seems to have had some refurbishing. Could use updating of the rooms.

Pleasant hotel near the sea
Good. Very pleasant hotel. Nice people. Good location. Lovely boardwalk with good restaurants. Beds are very small and pushed together to form larger bed. Should have a locking mechanism, not conducive to intimacy.

Decent place to stay if not picky
Was impressed with room when I walked in since it had 2 beds, fridge and microwave which previous hotels didn't have. But once settled in, the wifi didn't work which was a bummer and a rooster outside kept us up half the night. Bathroom can use some maintenance, but that doesn't bother me as much. Breakfast was amazing though!!!!

Ok stay. Great staff. Internet rarely worked whole week we were there. Food was ok. It was clean and quiet however, and that was important to us. Parking lot, as most of Jerusalem is a nightmare, to park in.

Berger and Astoria Hotel was poor.
The Berger is an old, tired hotel. There were so few people staying there that they shifted us to the sister property the Astoria Hotel, across the street. This hotel had construction going on. When we booked in the person at the counter was on the phone and didn't acknowledge our presence. This hotel was also older. The rooms were large but the features were from another era. There were no snacks we could buy and I had to walk down the street to find a little grocery store. The breakfast was bare bones.

Basic but with charm, space and amagnificent view.
The staff call the proprietor 'The Major' and an army feel runs through the hotel - shipshape, clean, and with higher than average facilities (Fridge as well as tea/coffee making and extra sink, large bathroom, good shower) The rooms are large. The furniture is plentiful with good storage space - though rather basic - metal frame desk and table - a bit like officers' barracks I guess. 'The Major' is very helpful - both knowledgeable and forthcoming about the area and able to produce a needle and any colour cotton required in an emergency. The real bonus is the magnificent (though partly restricted) view of The Sea of Galilee from the balconies. Insist on a front room. The Major will say they are a bit noisy - but the sound proofing is good and I have know ones far louder. You may get similar views from other hotels in Tiberius. But I doubt they will be such good value. The view of the sea must however be the thing to look for - especially if you have half an hour after seeing the sites to reflect and watch the sun go down with a beer on the balcony.

Simple, homely and friendly!
Well, blink and you've past it, on the hill down towards the town. Once you know exactly how to get to it, it's easy. We had a back room, very quiet, a bit tired perhaps, but the place just has an atmosphere that makes you want to stay. The patron, Joseph, was lovely, special bloke, very interested and helpful.

Comfy Place
Nice place to stay in Tiberias on route to Golan. Rooms were simple, comfortable and clean. Front desk was very helpful. Complimentary Breakfast was fantastic ! Parking space is sufficient though little bit tight for big cars. All in all, a good play to stay. Will strongly recommend.

The price is right but lower your expectations
Pros.....free parking, fridge in the room, breakfast not bad, flat screen tvs but only a few stations. Cons......westerners will be surprised that the shower is old Israel style, in the middle of the tiny bathroom with no separate stall. This fact alone makes it unable to be rated a three-star hotel by western standards. Not much the hotel can do about this without completely gutting the hotel and replacing the bathrooms. When you finish showering you must use the giant squeegee provided to push the water into the drain. Basically the hotel is about as basic as you can get. If you're an economy traveler the place is ok.

OK for a cheap stay
This hotel provides good quality 2* accommodation (not 3* as listed). Rooms are adequate but linens aren't in the best of conditions. Lower flower rooms (especially rooms 108 and 109) suffer from noise from the main road which passes the front of the hotel. Breakfast is a cold buffet with a fresh, plain omelette offered. The hotel is located up the hill from the main town centre and is a hefty walk back. All in all, an adequate hotel for the price paid but nothing special.

Good location for day trips
I was looking for a hub from which to explore the Galilee area, and the Berger was a relatively inexpensive location. The hotel is older and the rooms are small, but all I needed was a place to shower and sleep. The Internet worked pretty well in the room. The breakfast was mediocre, but definitely enough to keep me going for most of the day. Park g was only available on the street, but I never had trouble finding a spot (tourism in Israel was down significantly during my stay). It was about a 15-20 minute walk to the promenade where most of the restaurants and in-city tourist attractions are located. There is a mall and grocery store on the way. If you don't have high expectations, you will be satisfied.

Great place to stay in Tiberias
Hotel Berger was a great spot from which to base our Tiberias tour. The owner, Eli and his wife, were charming, and extremely helpful. We were given a room with a kitchenette, and told that we could have a microwave brought into the room if we needed. They even gave us suggestions for car rental, and interesting sites around the lake. The breakfast included in the price was just what we needed to start our day. At the end of our stay, Eli kindly invited us to leave our bags in our room after checkout and allowed us to use the room for a shower before our departure in the evening. Now that's customer service! The hotel is located next to a convenient bus stop for getting to and from the centre of town. Or, it's only a 15-20 min walk. Rent a car in Tiberias for getting around the lake, and securely park your vehicle at the Berger's free parking lot. We highly recommend the Berger on your trip through the Galilee.

Mr Berger and his staff was extremely helpful and friendly! He gave me useful advice what to see and how to get to places around the Sea of Galilee just in two days. He even checked timetables for me how to get to the Ben Gurion airport late in the evening! The room was simple but very clean with a nice little balcony. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is located about 20 minutes walk from the center of Tiberias. A bus stop is in front of the hotel. I can warmly recommend Berger hotel to everyone travelling in the area.

The rooms and ghe hotel was clean and efficient but they are starting to show their age. Beds were comfortable. Air conditioner couldn't keep up, I think that it was turned down for cost. For the cost it was okay. One thing I wojld suggest is that one of the many easy chairs in the lobby which are hardly ever used should be put in the rooms for reading and watching tv.

Spacious bedroom
The Hotel is a bit far from the shopping center and the Sea of Galilee, but there is public transport in front the Hotel. The staff is pleasant, attentive staff, with check-in and check-out very fast. The breakfast is simple but well served and the Chef always asks if you want to add something. I liked the service and could return to staying there again, if not have no vacancies at hotels closer to the beach. Excellent cost x benefit.

Good breakfast, helpful staff, spacious room
The room was spacious, with a kitchen area and fridge but - strangely - no cups or plates. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise with something to suit every taste - I liked the hot pancakes and omelettes. The hotel is on the main road into and out of Tiberias so buses to e.g. Nazareth, Haifa stop almost right outside, which is handy but does mean there is some traffic noise. Mr. Berger and the other staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Great budget option; friendly owner
Tiberias makes a convenient base for the Galilee area--it's an easy day trip to Nazareth (about 45 minutes away) and less than 30 minutes from the Christian holy sites on the Galilee (the Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum, the fishing boat, etc.). This hotel makes a great place to base yourself, especially if you're mostly going to be out for the day (if you want the whole beach-front resort thing, better to stay down the hill a bit). A bit on the basic side, but my room was comfortable enough, and the bathroom was clean and had a nice shower. Good wifi, too. Mr. Berger was a very friendly host. Free parking. Not much for food, etc. in the immediate area, but there are some restaurants a short drive away, and there's a major shopping mall down the hill a bit with many more services and places to eat.

Clearly budget
This hotel needs to be refurbished as it could be nice with some paint and elbow grease but it is clearly a 'budget' hotel for those on tight budgets. Not clean or well maintained. It's heyday was probably 20 years ago.

Very helpful proprietor and staff at Berger hotel
I recently travelled on pilgrimage to Israel on my own, starting from Tiberias of Galilee to Jerusalem. If you are new to Tiberias, travelling on your own or with family members, or even as a couple or student, this hotel would suit your needs with no frills. I found the staff very helpful, but most of all the friendliness and kindest help from the proprietor of the hotel Eli. He made his personal phone available for my use when my wife was unable to contact me. He also showed me the way around Galilee on my pilgrimage. My luggage was also kept for me for the whole day after I had checked out of the hotel - to enable me visit other sites without having to take my backpack with me. This saved me a lot of hassle as I travelled with less luggage. Eli also directed me to where I could get a bus to Nazareth - which was just a few yards from his hotel.
