Retreat in northern Israel

Pros: The staff and the meals were excellent
Cons: The rooms need redecorating desperately as do the common areas
Location: The old city of Safed is a 15 minute drive. The view of the valley from the hotel was breathtaking
Our stay at Mizpe Hayamim was generally a good experience. We were attracted to the resort due to it's proximity to Safed and that it was self described as a relaxing, spa experience. We had spent the previous two weeks traveling in eastern Europe and felt we needed a place to unwind. The grounds are lovely, the staff was welcoming and friendly and the food was outstanding. The hotel itself was clean but very tired looking. The room was large and the bathroom had a small separate shower and a whirlpool tub. The furniture was mismatched, the floors were designed to look like wood but were actually heavily worn plastic and the television was tiny. For the price we paid for the room we expected a more luxuriously appointed room and were frankly disappointed.
