very nice hotel with a great view and terrace

Even we stayed at the residences, we enjoyed the villa's terrace to see the sunset. Just one thing: there was a bad sewer smell in the shower.

Fantastic Breakfast

Posted May 2, 2014 on Hotels.com
The rooms in the Residence are incredibly spacious, comfortable, and clean with private patios/ balconies. The hotel staff are very kind and helpful. We stayed in the Residence (separate from the actual villa). I especially like the surrounding of the hotel with trees, grass, and vineyard. There are lots of free parking spaces. Very good breakfast and a short drive to TASIS.

Classic upscale experience

Posted Apr 4, 2014
Cons: Breakfast seemed a bit lower quality than an hotel of this class should offer
It is worth the experience at the Expedia special rate we were able to book the room. Our room was spacious with an incredible view of the Lake. Good quality Spa, excellent bar with amazing lists of whiskey and cognac. Restaurant a bit pricey but high quality of classic Italian and French dishes. Service was excellent.

Beautiful locale and gracious staff-near TASIS

Posted Dec 23, 2013
Pros: Wonderful staff and large, impeccably appointed room.
Cons: Corridors were very cold - apparently equal in temperature to outside air. A bit of hallway heat would be welcome.
Location: The location is very near TASIS - the American School in Switzerland; it is a pleasant walk to campus from the hotel.
We stayed just one night at the annex. The room was wonderfully large and very comfortable - divided imaginatively by a few steps down to a sitting area and balcony. Since we were there on a very rainy and chilly December day, the walk over to the main building for a light lunch wasn't ideal. Staff were uniformly welcoming and helpful - arranged to have a rental car delivered to the hotel and picked up there next day to suit our evening transportation needs.

Great Hotel with poor attention to details

Posted Nov 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was great, but the fact that the staff was not able to deal with very noisy tourists screaming at 3am all around the hallways, was a big disappointment. will not return

Great Hotel, but with a BIG downside

Posted Nov 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
Everything was perfect. Unfortunately, the lack of capability from the staff to deal with drunken, noisy guests (at 3am on a wednesday night) running around the hallways and screaming like a UEFA final, will make sure I will not return again....

Fantastic Breakfast

There is ample free-parking around the hotel site, rooms are OK. Most surprising part was the breakfast. Hotel has really nice breakfast selection with perfect breakfast service! We enjoyed our stay.

Premium property meets high expectations

Top flight hotel with the level of service and amenities expected. Located on the hill overlooking Lugano rather than on the waterfront, but the view and complementary shuttle to town center make this a plus. Expensive but worth it.

Not impressed

Posted Apr 1, 2013
The hotel is old, overpriced for what it offers. Nice gym, good breakfast, good rooms but terrible decoration. No spa just small sauna that can be booked on request. Location a bit remote.

"Annex Building"

Posted Dec 15, 2012 on Hotels.com
When the reference in the offer says 'annex building' what this really means is that it's a sister accomodation across the road (the 'Residence'), not the one that's sown in the photos (the 'Hotel'). Rooms are very nice
