Enclave of Privacy and Comfort!

I stayed at the Bacolet for 2 nights In Tobago. One thing I can tell you is everything you see in the pictures are all there. This hotel is immaculately designed with great amenities. The staff at the front desk were generally helpful. The food from its Café Havanna was always delicious. The wi-fi is excellent :) However, there is still a lot of room for improvement. For the price you are paying you don't really get much. Paying this much in Mexico or Cuba would have gotten you 3 square meals and an open bar......mind you the quality of the food in those places is doubtful. You do get a filling buffet style continental breakfast. But, the mini bar in the room seemed to be a money grab. Also, looking at the menu at Café Havana you feel as though you are paying way too much for food that was most likely locally sourced. Be careful with booking online, I thought that I had payed half the cost by booking online and confirming the reservation with expedia. However, the headquarters of this hotel is based in London and the accounts person failed to debit the transaction from my credit card before we got there. When I was finally checking out I was shocked to find that I had to pay the whole cost. Just some heads up. MAKE SURE TO CHECK THAT YOUR CREDIT CARD WAS CHARGED! :) All in all I loved my stay at this hotel and it was so wonderful to have a place like this to come back to after a long adventurous day in tobago. Adios! Hope I have been helpful!

Nice hotel for a couple of nights

Posted May 26, 2014
Pros: Easy location. Professional staff. Nice lounge chairs around the pool.
Cons: Wifi in the room would be nice. We could only access in the lobby.
Stayed at Bacolet for two nights after spending 7 nights in Speyside and Castara. Nice location, although you do need a car or taxi to go out and eat if you choose somewhere other than Cafe Havana (which is nice). The hotel is in good shape but is slightly worn. The beach is alright but compared to other bays throughout Tobago, it is below average.

Small relaxing hotel - lovely pool/private beach

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Very quiet - you never felt hurried. Often had the pool or beach to ourselves.
Cons: Felt some staff on the front desk were young and needed more customer service guidance - the guests should be "laid back"and worry free not the staff
Location: Definitely need a hire car to explore/find other places to eat or be prepared to pay for trips as it is a very quiet location and to far out to walk.
Stayed for a week - although many people seemed to pass through more quickly. Breakfast was included and was good with a couple of variations in the hot buffet each morning. The evening menu would become boring if you ate there every night for a week so be prepared to drive or take taxis. We had a beautiful view from our room with excellent housekeeping and air conditioning but we could see how anyone in a ground floor room of the main house would be disappointed to look out onto the back of other rooms. The pool had plenty of shades and the beach (down quite a steep set of steps) was beautiful for slightly older children and adults mainly because the sea was often quite far up the beach and the waves were quite strong with some seaweed to wade through before swimming. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - just remember to chill.

Don't get room 1

Posted Jan 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
We booked a standard room at the BBC for 4 nights and ended up in what I now realise is the worst room in the hotel - room 1. While they make a point to have all rooms look out onto the ocean, there is one exception - room 1. In fact, room 1 doesn't even have a window in the bedroom. It's really just a cave with a flimsy sliding door to enter. Next to the stairs and the AC unit for the main lobby. I'm sure I would have had a different stay had we been assigned one of their normal rooms but realistically BBC really shouldn't assign people who are paying standard room rates to a room that should be discounted in the first place. If you go - make sure you have them stay in one of the standard rooms.

Clean, Quiet and Comfortable

Location: Location is quiet with access to a small, private beach. Car rental at the hotel makes it easy to get to many of the destinations like Pigeon Point.

Bait and switch

They sold us one thing, then said they were overbooked upon arrival and made us stay at their far lesser property. Dinner was offered, but that hardly compensated for what was provided versus what we actually paid for.

Well done!

Posted Jul 13, 2013
Pros: The rooms and the beach.
Cons: No "life guard" or "watch" on the "private beach".
The staff were attentive and did their best with the resources they had. The hotel rooms were well kept and the first nights experience was great. Hope the hotel can maintain this.

Very rustic 3 star

Posted Jun 25, 2013
The hotel looks about 40+ years old and was only 17! The rooms are just okay very Holiday Inn. The beach was nice. The restaurant was pricey for what they serve. There are very few options for other restaurants and good shopping in the local area. The whole thing was just okay. I would never go back to this hotel.

Nice hotel but...

Posted Jun 23, 2013
Pros: The hotel staff is very nice and helpfull
Cons: The hotel restaurant is very exp3ncive and ita not so good
Location: Ther is nothing to do near the hotel if you would like to do activitis you will have to take a rented car
The hotel is nice but its far from the island main attractions, the beach is a bit simple and the water arent clear, the hotel restaurant isent good and its very expensive, they even charched us for a glass of water. if you want to stay at the hotel you ahould rent a car for you to move along the island becouse its a very boaring hotel.
