Average place in a good location

Posted Jan 6, 2015
I've stayed in other cabins in ucluelet in the past. The Whale's Tail was average. The interior is outdated and there is no view. We paid off season prices and I have to say that I didn't feel I was getting much of a bargain. I would find the cabins to be overpriced in the summer and think the price I paid in off season should be the regular prices. . The place was nice but nothing super noteworthy about it. I would try somewhere else for future visits.

A home away from home!

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Customer Service, Location, Amenities and Attention to Small Details.
Location: In the centre of everything touristy. Only a block away from the Aquarium, Restaurants, Whale Watching and Lots of Shopping!
At the front desk I was greeted by a lovely woman who happened to be the owner. She made our stay amazing with the extra care and attention to details that us roving travellers had forgotten. She went out of the way to make sure our short stop in Ucluelet was filled with fun, adventure and great food. I was thoroughly pleased with the rooms as well, I have spent WAY more to stay at other hotels that didn't even have half the amenities that Whale's Tail did. I was thoroughly pleased and I would recommend the Whale's Tail to friends and family. And the next time I find myself on the beautiful coast of Vancouver Island I will be staying there.

Central, quiet and clean

Posted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: Comfortable, well equipped small apartment. Cleaned each day, quiet with shared gardens and BBQ. Central and could walk to most parts of town.
Cons: It would have been nice to have say a carton of milk in fridge for a first drink or some fruit on arrival. But easy walk to the shops open long hours.
Location: Walks, trips to see wild life whales etc. Swimming, the harbour and coast, eating out the National Park to North West. R C Church short walk, fish.
Made welcome whilst checking in 30 mins early. We were comfortable, easy walk to most shops and other facilities in the town. We walked to the Wild Pacific Coastal path and along it and back, one morning. Easy stroll to Supermarket, a variety of places to eat, tourist information and harbour. After a period in a hotel is was nice to have the small kitchen, grass area to sit out on and BBQ. We used the Swimming pool once at the nearby Hotel and enjoyed not needing to use the car some days.

Great family hotel and good value for money

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: Close to shops in Ucluelet
Location: cycle to the lighthouse, walking distance to clothing shops, coffee shops, liquor store
Hotel staff is great and very quick to respond to any needs. I was expecting it to be very run down given it's affordable rate, but found it very well keep, clean, and had all the basics needed for the stay.

Felt at home

The value of this hotel was great. Staying in Ucluelet was more affordable and had convenient access to hwy 4 and the beaches. It was difficult at night because we had to drive 40 minutes on a dark and windy road back from dinner and tours that were in Tofino. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the owners were awesome. Brenda gave us great recommendations for what to do and where to eat. She's also negotiated discounts with Relic surfing and Jaime's Whale tours which were both fantastic.
