“The beds were hard...and the bedspread smelled like dirty feet.”

My husband is disabled. I assumed (wrongfully) that AmericaInn would have an elevator...but no...they did not and no one even asked if we needed provisions for a handicapped person. The stairs to the second floor were a killer. The room itself appeared clean but the tile in the bathroom the grout was moldy and the shower had NO bath mat or anything to prevent slipping while in the shower outside of having a railing. This created a precarious situation for my husband as he is not sure footed enough to catch himself from slipping on a slippery surface.

“Great place to stay for families”

Very nice hotel. Located very close to numerous hiking trails and spectacular Lutsen mountain (~10 miles) which is must to visit if you want to witness spectacular Fall colors . Blue Fin restaurant with great food is only 30 seconds away. This is a quiet hotel with a very nice swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. Our room was clean and spacious. Breakfast is decent with hot food, juices, coffee and a selection of teas. Will definitely keep this one in mind for our next trip. This is not a cheap place to stay, but it's worth it.

“Nice Hotel in a Quiet, Small, Secluded town”

The hotel was clean and beds were comfortable. It wasn't fancy, but is exactly what we were looking for at a great price. The pool area is also good! Large hot tub and decent depth in the pool. The continental breakfast was also really good!

Area recommendations

Duluth, MN- there is a lot to do ( Glensheen Mansion and the Great Lakes Aquarium to name a few) and the city is beautiful. Ely, MN- this is a smaller town but it's gorgeous. The International Wolf Center, the North American Bear Center, and the Soudan Mines are a few great places to visit about an hour away from the hotel.

What to pack

Bring layers of clothes since the weather changes quickly and it can get cold since it's in northern Minnesota and on Lake Superior.

“Good value for the price”

The hotel was convenient, clean with friendly staff. The only negative is no elevator for the upper floor.
