The one hotel to which I'd always return in Tokyo

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: Overall and room design, restaurants, serenity, intimate yet spacious feel.
Cons: Oh, if I want to be picky, it could be easier to set up a mini-tripod to take photos of those wonderful harbour views at night!
Location: The Yurikamome monorail from Shiodome doesn't go anywhere specially useful for a tourist, but provides a fascinating out-and-back trip round the bay.
The Conrad has aged just perceptibly since I first visited in 2009, but if they do renovate, I hope they don't lose the essential design of the rooms which is brilliant (and since imitated, I have noted on this trip). The views - over Tokyo Bay for a small price premium - remain unmatched by any Tokyo hotel as far as I know. The whole layout just works, and the only problem with having so many excellent restaurants in one hotel is spending money on visiting them all. If you can - you won't regret it. China Blue remains my favourite not least for its wonderful "blue but warm" decor theme ... but the competition is close run. Tokyo of course has many of the world's best hotels. However, the Conrad is perfect for getting over jet lag which I find takes me several days. This means you don't necessarily want to leave the hotel much, which offsets the somewhat less central location. That less central location also makes it consistently the cheapest offer in its class. And if you do wish to roam, the Oedo line from Shiodome station, accessible from the mall beneath the hotel, in fact provides some of the most useful direct connections possible: Roppongi, Shinjuku ... The mall is more extensive than it first appears, and provides convenience shops, additional cheaper restaurants when needed, etc.

Luxurious hotel with a great view!

Posted May 7, 2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: Not much other than lowering the price (always have to say that)
Location: The park and shops are top notch.
After a 14 day cruise in Asia I was greeted by a spacious suite overlooking Tokyo Bay. I was never in Tokyo but didn't want to leave my room, it was that comfortable. The very attentive staff made my stay even better.

Hôtel luxueux, très bel établissement

Posted Apr 30, 2015

The service here was second to none. awesome

Posted Apr 26, 2015
The hotel went the extra mile in every way and it really made the difference. We had booked a suit but as it was my partners birthday (a pretty special one), not only were we moved to a bag view but upgraded from a suite to executive suite. They even sent up a cake! It's a corporate hotel by design but we felt welcoming, friendly and not like it was being done because they had to or wanted a tip. Stayed in "cooler" boutique hotels around the world, but the service here tops the lot. Really do recommend.

Amazing high class hotel

Posted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: Excellent high class hotel, wonderful view, well located.
Cons: Nothing. A near perfect experience.
Location: Located near the Tsukiji fish market, and also walking distance form Ginza.
Wonderful high class hotel. The rooms are clean and wonderfully designed, the staff are amazing, and the location is very good as its just a short walk from the main Yomanote and Keihin-Tohoko lines as well as a Ginza line stop just outside. The place is amazingly designed, the bar, while a little expensive gives a wonderful view out onto the bay at night with a very good selection of whiskeys and other liquors. The staff is especially good, almost all are fluent in English, and many are fluent in other languages. They noticed my mother had a mask on when she came in and one attached himself to her like glue, brought a tea kettle up to the room with from honey to help and checked on her the next day to make sure she was feeling better. The morning continental breakfast is expensive, but very very very good. If the price is your main detractor schedule far in advance as it is actually pretty reasonably priced if you schedule early. Wonderful opening experience to a stay in Japan.
