Budget experience, but not budget price

Posted Jul 22, 2014
It must be stressed, the room (double bed) is tiny, with no room for your suit case. Location is good, near the Higashi-shinjuku station and within walking distance of Shinjuku-san chome. However, it is bordering the dodgy Kabukicho district so the area is very different from most of Tokyo. I will not stay at any of the handful hotels in this area again. Spend a little more and go west/south of Shinjuku station!

Close to everything

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: close to everything, hotel staff are great
Location: location is excellent.
Hotel is very accessible to shops, public transport esp train, restaurants. However they don't have private phone. We need to use the public phone downstairs. Room is so small and not very comfortable. Hotel staff are friendly, helpful and they speak and understand english. Price is reasonable. Highly recommended to students, singles however for family with small children like us.. a bit uncomfortable !

Great affordable accommodation in good location

Posted May 30, 2014
Pros: Clean, friendly and helpful staff, good and safe location with reasonable price
Location: Lots of late night food options, close to Korean town which opens until late. Walking distance to Golden Gai.
E Hotel Higashi Shinjuku location is convenient with cafe downstairs, convenient store around the corner, MacDonalds and food stores across the road and walking distance to Korean town and Golden Gai. The train station is right at the door step. We travelled a lot and got back to the hotel late every night but the location was safe to come out and look for late night snacks. Though the rooms are quite small, they were very clean. The hotel staff were very helpful. 2 computers with free internet is available at the foyer. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

not great

Posted May 21, 2014
Pros: The staff was able to easily assist me on getting a bus to the airport. not a terrible location.
Cons: Accurate description of room. ensure facilities are working.
Location: decent restaurants around. Watch out for South African Touts in the area trying to pull you into their shady establishments (sometimes forcibly)
I know a lot of people talk about how small the room is but it is shockingly small. The room is essentially the same size as the bed. If you pull out the chair from the desk then you are unable to open the bathroom door. The lights to the bathroom did not work, nor did the controls for the toilet (the bidet would randomly go off and spray for several minutes. You will need to duck to shower and I am not very tall. There is absolutely no place to put your bags within the room. had to leave them in the doorway (standing up). There is no way to secure anything within your room so every time you leave the hotel you will need to leave your bags at the front desk. The hotel will also ask the hotel will also ask that you leave your room key with them each time you go out and request it when you come back.

Ultra Small rooms

Posted May 20, 2014
This is the second time I stayed here for Tokyo Shinjuku. Mainly for its location and pricing fitting to our budget. However, the first time was a twin bed room, slightly bigger. I booked the double room this time, I don't even have a proper place to open up my luggage. Overall staff and cleanliness is good. It's the room size that made the stay uncomfortable.

Next to subway exit

Posted May 13, 2014
Hotel is situated next to Higashi Shinjuku exit, however the airport limo bus does not stop by the hotel, had a difficult time carrying my heavy luggage to take the subway to catch the limo bus as there are no escalator travelling downwards.

Mandela Had A Bigger Cell

Pros: Cost & location
Cons: Demolish it and start again.
Location: Great shopping strip a couple of blocks away though it doesn't look like it at first.
Location is very good (though not at first glance). Subway extremely handy. That said this hotel has given new meaning to compactness! So tiny was the room that I simply didn't unpack our cases. Shower bath the size of a large laundry tub though I could stand completely upright; just. Night visits to the loo involved crawling along the bed pressed up against the wall. When abluting one found the toilet door when closed touching the tip of your nose if you strained forward!! Staff with Gestapo determination would not allow access to room one second before 3PM. Consequently small lobby piled up with everyone's' cases trussed together with lengths of rope. So if you are vertically challenged or just one of Snow White's party then this abode could be just what you're looking for.

Its good!

Staffs are great super friendly they all speak good english and very helpful. Location is good it's near a lot of restaurants and 10min walks to shops. Convenient store and coffee shop right downstairs. Local subway station right next to it Higashi Shinjuku station. however you cannot use JR pass so you have to buy ticket to your destination or to the main Shinjuku station at ¥170(1way) to catch a JR train line. Rooms are small which is normal. Its cosy and comfy. I stayed in double deluxe which is the highest level lvl 13 for 8 days then switched to standard double for 4 days lvl 9. Both rooms are exactly the same except level 9 you will hear more noise from street which i dont mind. For first timer to tokyo. If you are catching train from airport to the main shinjuku station recommend to taxi it to hotel. Its only a short distant (i paid under ¥1000 split between 3 ppl). Its better than changing to local subway with all your luggages. But if you want to save monies then subway it is. Overall very happy with this hotel ! thankyou EHOTEL ! =)

Nice hotel, but not after a long flight

Posted Apr 26, 2014
Pros: Room was great. Clean and comfortable, though very small - but in a quaint Japanese way, rather than being cramped. I would stay here again, but only
Cons: Early checkin for travelers.
Location: Not much to do in walking distance, but hotel is located immediately above entrance to the subway, so easy to get around.
This would be a great budget hotel except for one HUGE problem - they will not, under any circumstances let you check in before 3:00 PM. This is kind of a bummer when you have just landed in a foreign country after a 12 hour flight and are completely exhausted and just want a nap and a shower but instead have to find a way to pass 6 hours before you can get into your room. On the upside, the will hold your bags for you so you don't have to lug those around with you.
