“Excellent for the price”
Very spacious for the price in Tokyo! Close to the JR station and one of the subways.
“Nice but a bit remote”
+ clean and nice rooms + good view + nice breakfast + reasonable price for tokyo - a bit far away from the center
“Good Value Hotel Next Train”
Stayed here because a friend was also staying here. Upper floors have been renovated/updated with new modern decor. We were on 7th floor & decor was older, but still fine. This hotel is a good value, rooms are small, but location is convenient to Yamanote train line, so simple to get to Shinjuku & Shibuya. English is spoken well at this hotel, but just make sure you repeat everything you say. They also have a lot of Chinese tourists in this hotel.
“the best hotel in Tokyo”
Outstanding location; terrific customer service. This is the second time I've stayed here, and it was wonderful.
“Loved it!”
The Metropolitan was fabulous. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The room, though small (expected), was very comfortable and had more amenities than we ever imagined including pjs, slippers, hair brushes, etc. The location was superb and, for first time visitors to Tokyo, that was key! We had convenient access to the subway and two major department stores, many small local establishements, and the hotel was a pickup site for tours, as well. An added plus..it was beautiful and we could see Mt. Fuji from our 22nd floor room.
“I am very happy with this hotel, Good train lines surround.”
Great surrounding, not too crowded as in shinjuku. Though 20 mins away from bullet train, good train network can bring convenience.
“Will stay here again!”
This was my second trip to Tokyo and I decided to try this hotel as there was a great sale. I was very happy with my choice. The hotel is located directly across from the Ikebukuro station which made it very easy to get around Tokyo. There were lots of food options located near the hotel as well as a MOS Burger directly across. The hotel staff was great and pleasant at all times. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the hotel and cant wait to return. The hotel rooms may be a little small for some, however I found them to be adequate for the wife and I. They are similar to hotel room sizes in London.
“Nice place to stay in Tokyo”
The hotel is very nice and clean, with polite and professional service. It is also very large, primarily used by various Japanese groups and organizations, which makes is somewhat impersonal. The room size and setup is fine for Japanese standards: rooms are bigger and better than those in most Japanese hotels, but a bit on the small side when compared to American ones. The location is also fine, just behind the Ikebukuro station, with lots of stores and restaurants nearby (including a Starbucks). It is probably the nicest hotel I stayed during my last Japan trip and I recommend it.
“not particulary gaijin (foreigner) friendly, but it's still lovely”
This hotel caters to Japanese people. However, the staff speaks English, they have a currency exchange desk (convenient if you don't have time to seek out a bank or an exchange in a department store with better rates), a tour desk, airport drop-off service via Airport Express limousine bus, and the bell captain desk can arrange airport pick-up for you via Airport Express. At $35, the breakfast buffet may not seem to be an option. There are 5 convenience stores within a 1/2 block radius of the hotel, and it's only 1 block away from Tobu, a huge department store which has the largest food hall in Tokyo, with excellent food. Numerous places to eat are across the street and within 1 block. Additionally, the hotel is only 1 block away from Ikebukuro station, a major station where you can get where you want to go.
“Good value in Tokyo”
This hotel is centrally located in Ikebukuro district. There are lots of restaurants & shopping in the area, and most other Tokyo districts can be reached within a few minutes by train / subway. The hotel has some smaller and larger rooms, as well as some recently renewed rooms. The larger renewed rooms are very nice.
