Hotel Monterey Ginza

Posted Oct 31, 2014
Pros: Larger room and bathroom
Location: Convenient to subway and Yamanote Line; shopping area;
What I liked about Hotel Monterey Ginza was it's relatively large room compared to some other Business hotels; it's convenience to the Yamanote Line (JR Line); Ginza shopping area; and Tsukiji Fish market.

Fantastic location and price

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Fantastic location to stay in Tokyo. Close to Ginza, Tsukiji, and Tokyo main station. Cleaniness and quality of staff are excellent -- typical Japanese trademark. However the condition of the hotel is starting to show some aging, but still priced competitively compared to other hotel choices around the area.

Convenient location in the heart of Ginza

Posted Oct 4, 2014
Hotel is within a 15-minute walking distance from Tokyo Central. Rooms are small overall. I had to change rooms twice in my 4-night stay because (1) the first room want what I had reserved and (2) facilities did not work in the second room. Staff seemed genuinely embarrassed by the situation, but still... While I understand that facilities can break, not getting the room for which I had paid extra is unacceptable.

good place, good position

Posted Sep 24, 2014
Pros: Comfortable beds, good service, nice to see original features. good position close to the Ginza and Kabuki theatre.
Cons: at least one English speaking channel on the TV, please.
Location: Close to the Ginza shops and Kabuki theatre. Lots of restaurants and bars around. Senso-ji not so far on Higashi-Ginza line.
An older looking hotel with a small simple reception, original tiles and features and has good bedrooms. It is very close to the Ginza and Higashi Ginza subway stations. Asakusa for Senso-ji is only a few stops on the Higashi Ginza line. The staff were very helpful and there always seemed to be an English speaker available. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space for suitcases. There was even a small wardrobe. We asked for extra pillows and they arrived very quickly. There were loads of places very close for coffee and breakfast first thing. On our last evening we found a restaurant opposite the hotel called Tofuro advertising 'Edo' food. The menu looked good, but when we took the lift down to B2, the place was just amazing! It was like walking out into an old Edo street, with reconstructed buildings housing the tables on different levels (a bit like the Shambles in York museum). We were really pleased with our food, and loved the fact that the Japanese kids there were just as amazed as us! The hotel is a 10 min taxi ride to the T-Cat for the Limousine bus to Narita.

Great location in Ginza

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: Location is excellent.
Cons: The floor of our room was wooden which I hadn't seen in any of the other 5 hotels we stayed at in Japan; that did make the room seem cold.
Location: Tons of restaurants and shops nearby - Printemps Ginza.
Our room was pretty basic but clean and had everything we needed for our one night there. The bed was a small double but comfortable.

Clean, excellent location, dated.

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Location, air conditioner, cleanliness.
Location: Ginza shopping and dining and easy access to public transportation
The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the air conditioner worked well. The hotel is old and dated by U.S. standards but very well located. There are several convenience stores just a few steps from the hotel.

Good location, clean and comfortable, but...

Posted Aug 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
The location of the hotel was great, everything is in walking distance. The room is quite pleasant, decent sized by Tokyo standards. very clean and quiet. The wi-fi in the room was fast, which is important to us. Most staff are friendly and helpful. But there was one woman staff so rude. I asked to call my taxi driver when we were waiting in the front desk. She came to stop the other staff to help me. She spoke Japanese to the other staff in front of me for 5 minuses just for interrupting the help. I don't understand Japanese but I could read their body language. This was so rude! Finally I had to go 13 floors to my room to make this 30 second call! I hope I had a chance to report it to the hotel management, but I ran out of time. So basically she spoiled the qualify of service.
