Good budget hotel close to Tokyo station

Posted Jul 17, 2015
Location: Five minutes walk from Kanda station on the Yamanote JR line (one stop from Tokyo). Quiet at weekend but lots of bars/restaurants during the week.
Good, functional, reasonably priced hotel. Clean room with the facilities you need for a brief stay, especially if you're just planning to crash for the night. No catering but some rooms have kitchenettes. Brings back memories of a student hall of residence but I've stayed in far, far worse places. Staff were excellent - very helpful and even let us store a large bag for a few days while we traveled outside Tokyo, which they then had waiting in the room on our return.

Small but good value.

Lots of storage space, which was a bit plus. Very small room, but we dealt with it. Staff had enough English to help with local directions. Close to several Tokyo Metro and JR line stations that take you to major tourist spots quickly.

The hotel looks great online but in person it is very disappointing. During the middle of the night one night we smelt the horrid smell of sewer coming from the drain in the bathroom. The staff were not that helpful and the sheets had many stains on them. The location close to the train but far from any sightseeing..

Quiet location close to Akihabara.

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: Good price. Quiet location. Comfortable room. Close to Akihabara and one of the best ramen restaurants in the world, Kikanbo.
Cons: Cleaning the rooms on a daily basis. Larger shower units. Slightly bigger areas between the bed and the sideboard table. English on TV remote.
Location: Quiet location. FamilyMart right next door. Close to subways. Akihabara is short walk. Kikanbo ramen restaurant is really close.
I stayed at Hotel MyStays Kanda with my fiancée for four nights in mid May of 2015. It was our first stop in Japan and so we were understandably jetlagged for much of our time there. The hotel was fairly easy to get to from Narita airport, catching the Skyliner to Ueno Station, and then taking the subway from Ueno to Kanda. Just be sure to note the location of the hotel if you don't have wifi as the streets are not clearly marked. The hotel is near a major highway, however, so it's easy to spot once you locate the highway. Considering its location, the room was quiet. It was small. I'm fairly tall so be sure to get the proper double bed if you are over average height, as many rooms are "semi-double" beds that aren't real doubles. It was reasonably priced. It was a good location to get around the city from and the area is quiet so you can get a good night's sleep, the kind you probably never would be able to get in Shinjuku or Shibuya. However, although the hotel is in a quiet area, it's easily in walking distance of many attractions, mainly Akihabara, which is a jumping neighbourhood. Ultimately it's a good budget location. I just wish the rooms were cleaned on a daily basis (they're not, only new toiletries are given and old towels swapped, along with garbages emptied) and the shower was larger (you'll be bumping elbows a lot).

Nice hotel and perfect location

Perfect location. Perfect staff. Rooms are not so big, but why would you need a big room if you have to stay around?!

Posted Jun 17, 2015

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros:
Cons:
Location:
