“Decent hotel, convenient to metro”
Stayed here 1 night in transit. Room would be small for more than one person/longer stay. Not a lot to do in the immediate neighborhood but 2 blocks from Metro station so very convenient to go anywhere in Tokyo. Very reasonable rate for a Tokyo hotel!
“A Good Value in a Good Location”
Stayed here for 4 nights and was happy with the accommodations. My wife and I booked a semi-double room and we were put in a corner room on the 7th floor. As with most hotels in Tokyo our room was very small, but we managed since we went out sightseeing most of the day so the hotel was basically for sleeping. The most appealing aspect of this hotel is that it is only a 10 minute walk from the JR Shinjuku Station, which is a major hub for all the Tokyo JR lines and the subway/metro lines. You can even catch the Narita Express train from this station which takes you to and from Narita Airport in about an hour and a half. One suggestion if you have a lot luggage (we had 2 rolling suitcases, a medium duffel bag and 2 backpacks) is to take a taxi from the train station to the hotel upon arrival (visa versa when you check out). It only cost about 700 yen, takes 5 minutes and it is worth it to not have to lug everything around, up and down flights of stairs, trying to walk to the hotel. There are plenty of convenience stores and smaller restaurants near the hotel which was convenient since the breakfast buffet at the restaurant was a little too pricey for our tastes. The hotel is close enough to the train to get you pretty much anywhere in Tokyo but far enough from the downtown area that it’s very quiet at night. I would stay here again.
“Recommended hotel and will stay again next visit.”
Very good location just adjacent to the metro station. Two minutes walk from Nishishinjuku station or 10 minutes to Shinjuku main station. Moderate size and well-cleaned-room. Worth paying and staying.
“Very convenient to Shinjuku Eki.”
Room may seem small to Americans, but totally adequate for an extended stay - even had two chairs and closet. Good base for sightseeing, not for living.
“Solid Value”
The Hotel Rose Garden Shinjuku was a great place to unwind after a day in Tokyo. Extremely close access to the nearest subway line and very good access to Shinjuku train and subway lines. The only downside is it is difficult to get around the main station if you are not familiar with it and you may need to take an overhead walkway to get to the hotel directly from it on foot. Tip for finding your way around: maps are regularly posted in the area and are oriented *the way you are looking* (ie.North isn't necessarily up). Immediate area has good access to food and convenience stores and Shinjuku station has a major shopping area and some reasonable nightlife. Staff was very helpful and friendly and everyone I encountered from front desk to room service to maids had good English language skills. Room was small, but neat, with a modern bathroom. Room service, mini bar and phone charges were actually very reasonable.
“Looking forward to a return visit”
Staying at this hotel was a pleasant experience, and the staff were always available to assist with questions, directions, or suggestions for restaurants. The hotel room was small compared to US rooms, but it was not crowded. The only item that would have helped with organization would be some drawers for clothes. Given the quality of service and location, I would definitely return while staying in Tokyo.
“Rose Garden Shinjuku - My new Home.”
This was my wife and my first visit to Japan. After lots of review surfing, we settled on The Rose Garden. Finding it the first night was tricky, but once you know where you are, it is only about a 10 min walk to the JR station. Great location - lots of restaurants and shops within an easy walk. Not smack in the middle of all the hustle bustle of Shinjuku, but just close enough. Great staff -friendly and they really try hard to help you. Rooms are on the petite side, but an overall great value. I'll be back.
“Definitely recommended”
We stayed at Rose Garden throughout our whole trip to Tokyo for 5D4N. Price is reasonable considering that it is situated in Shinjuku area. May be abit far (15mins) to walk to Shinjuku station but Nishi-Shinjuku station is just 3 mins away from the hotel and 1 stop to Shinjuku station. There are convenience stores and places to eat around the hotel (Yoshinoya opens until 1am) so no need to worry about going hungry. We did not opt for hotel bfast so cannot comment. Hotel room was tiny as expected but bed is enough for 2 persons. They have a bathtub in the toilet, free tea and hot water. Room and toilet are very clean. Only negative point is there is only 1 english news channel on tv. Staff were conversant in english and helpful with directions. A tip if you are taking the limousine bus from Narita: stop at Hilton Hotel at Shinjuku as it is about 8min walk to the hotel. The stop at Shinjuku station would be further away from the hotel. Would definitely go back for another stay!
“Highest Recommendation”
Two points about hotels in Japan: 1) they're ALL small, even if you pay big bucks, and 2) they're all extremely clean. So when looking for a room two things come up: location and cost. Rose Garden is about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the large Shinjuku station, but it's less than a minute from a connecting subway line. In many ways, this is even more convenient than being near the big station because odds are you'll have to change trains from Shinjuku at some point anyway, but it's still very close and there's less bustle. Rooms are reasonable priced, clean, with good AC, larger bathrooms than usual, and though small, a little larger than one would expect in Japan. Plus, according to their staff it's a family-owned non-chain spot. Staff spoke English and were extremely helpful with directions and train information. Next time we're in Tokyo we'll plan to stay again, and to me that's the best gauge of one's experience.
“Best Nishi-Shinjuku Hotel”
I very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Rose Garden. It was small enough not to be lost in endless hallways, multiple floors and a huge staff. The rooms were very clean and they provided robes and slippers and a number of other amenities that you did not think would come with a room for such a great price. The location of the hotel is about a half mile from the Shinjuku station, so you make a good walk to get to the central area, but it also stays quiet at night for the most part. It borders on a really nice area of the city. The proximity to Shinjuku station is perfect because you can get ANY connecting line at that place and if you just vacation in Shinjuku station itself it is a microcosm for the entire city. We very much enjoyed our stay and would go back again.
