“Horrible!!”
This hotel was so disgusting and uncomfortable! Our first room had food crumbs all over bed and nasty hairs all over the sheets! They switched us to another room which also had a stained grungy comforter. Would not suggest this hotel to anyone. It always smells on every floor including the non smoking.
“I'll stay there again.”
Being next to Tokyo Metro goverment, clean and safe neighborhood. Few minutes walk from Shinjyuku-station, and closer to Tocho subway station. Great place to stay to get around Tokyo area. The hotel allowed early check-in, but will depend on availability.
“Convenient location”
Convenient location, airport bus come to the front of the hotel, free internet and good service. Room is a typical small one in Japan, but manageable for a business trip. Carry a smaller baggage!
“Great location and nice hotel”
The Washington Hotel is a business hotel so it will not have all the frills of the Park Hyatt down the street but it will provide you with a clean, quiet place to stay. When picking a hotel in Tokyo, how you are getting to your hotel from the airport is an important factor. With the Washington Hotel there is private bus service you can take at the airport that will drop you off and pick you up right in front of the hotel. The trains are crowded and the streets are tough to navigate so I would not recommend the train unless you know your way around the city.
“Shinjuku Washington: Sept 2011”
Good hotel, great restaurant on main floor. Hotel was older but kept in good condition. Staff was friendly and spoke decent english. Location is 15min walk from the shinjuku train station and can be missed if you're not paying attention. It's located on a busy road but we couldn't hear any street noise from our room on the 17th floor.
“Looks good on the surface...”
I spent 6 nights at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel. The good is the staff. The staff is very polite, and helpful with all needs. The staff at the tourist desk do an excellent job of assisting the visitor with all needs. Also good was the location, a short walk from Shinjuku station, I was obtained a decent rate through Expedia. However this was a case of when you scratched below the surface what you see doesn't look that good. The hotel offers free internet access via LAN cable. I was traveling with a iPad and was aware many hotels only offer LAN access. I had brought a device with me that allowed me to establish a mini wifi hotspot in my room. I noticed a comment in the internet instructions stating the hotel could not assure internet access in the room. In 3 weeks of travel the Shinjuku was the only hotel whose internet access my wifi setup would not work with. I did notice a number of internet terminals available in the lobby, at a modest 100 yen for 15 mins. The Shinjuku has a laundry room. However when you go to dry your clothes, even a small load, it required 3 cycles of the dryer at 100 yen per. Check-out is earlier then most other hotels and appears to be enforced rather stringently. Bottom line, the Shinjuku is a hotel that tries to get the most number of people in, subtly continue to add on fees, and just do the minimal to "get the job done" from an infrastructure point of view. I don't blame the staff, all these items appears to be a corporate issue.
“Don't stay with your girle friend”
Nice and convenient location with a walking distance to train and subway stations. Free internet works pretty well. Airport bus comes to the hotel. Room is very small and old, don't bring a big suitcase with you. Could not get into the room because of my back-bag. Window is very small and cannot be opened. Could not see anything outside. Lobby looks messy and dirty. Remember to check out before 11AM, otherwise you will get extra charge. I was two hours late due to a business meeting, and had to pay US$15 extra when I checked out. Overall is okay, especially you only sleep several hours inside the room during a business trip.
“Good location, unfriendly staff, good value for Tokyo”
Good location, unfriendly staff, good value for Tokyo, smal rooms
“Two times the charm”
Second time staying at this hotel and second review. No real complaints. Room is decent for the price. Lots of restaurants in the hotel. 24 hour family marts. Staff is friendly and most of them speak english! And limo bus stops right in front of hotel. My only complaint is same as the first review. Long walk to the main station. Bout 15 - 20 min. Not too bad but if you did some shopping it's a pain to walk that far carrying a bunch of bags. Also, there's not much outside the hotel so you would have to go towards the main strip for anything. Would stay again since it's cheaper then most other hotels in Shinjuku area.
“Poor Service - Good Rooms”
The service is very poor in the hotel. The rooms are good, not too small (japanese style). If you don't care if you get absolutly no service, then it is a good hotel to stay in.
