“nice hotel but breakfast needs more choices for foreigners”
This hotel was very clean and trendy. The atmosphere is more for a younger crowd. The restaurant is Italian-themed. The complimentary breakfast food quality was good, but the choices for foreigners was limited and could use improvement. For instance, spaghetti and meatballs and Italian bread should not be served during breakfast. I asked for low-calorie sweetner for my coffee, and I was laughed at. The music one morning was very loud with Michael Jackson tunes. The lobby has a machine for free brewed coffee.
“Cheap and convenient, but not perfect”
I can't comment on the staff's English ability as I spoke Japanese to them, but they were very friendly and accommodating. The price is good, and it's located right by Ikebukuro station and a few local convenience stores. They even have free wired internet, HD programming, a fridge, etc. However, the beds were extremely hard, the AC is fairly weak and the walls are quite thin. Considering it's in the heart of Ikebukuro and right behind a somewhat shady area, it can get somewhat loud at night. If you can get past these faults, it's a good hotel for budget travel, especially solo.
“Excellent selection in the heart of Tokyo”
Good location, very clean room at a good price
“Nice, immaculate hotel; chaotic location/neighborhood”
I was amazed at the condition of the hotel, given the price. It was the nicest place I have stayed (internationally) at this price point. The location is quite busy, but not far from the metro station. I would stay here again.
“Tokyo Thrift”
Being in a foreign coutry, with a foreign language, can be very intimidating. So my first concern was being able to get to the hotel from the airport. Fortunately, the hotel was a straight shot by express train (wthin the airport) to the other end of the rail line, and with couple blocks walk North from the train station we were there. We were also able to make an early check in at no extra charge. The rooms were the smallest that I have ever been in, but it had everything you needed, the Japanes Know how make good use out of every bit of space. With plenty of places to shop and eat near by I would strongly recommend it.
“Nice, small, efficent”
A good choice for the price. It's close to train station, small room, great bathroom technology, very clean, wifi, laptop rental, modern decor.
“Good and cheap in Tokyo”
The B Ikebukuro has got a really good location only 3 min on foot from the metro station (which is about 10 min from Shinjuku and 15 from Shibuya, or about 25min to Oeno in the other direction). The surrounding area is not bad with a mix of small backstreet restaurants and inner city shopping districts, and of course you have Praco, Tokyo Hands, etc close as well. The rooms are tidy, and I think the daily rate for the 1 bed room is good! However, be prepared the room is very small. There's a bed in the room, a small desk, and then not much else (well except a tiny bathroom hehe) So if you're like my and have normal sized bag with you, expect it to occupy a large portion of the floor area, I'm not joking about this. But it works, you just have to be a bit practical about it, but it is not "international standard" in my opinion. But, apart from the size of the room, I was very happy with the place. There's no curfew, you have free high speed internet, there's a quite decent Italian restaurant/bar on the 1st floor, complimentary coffee etc. But don''t do your laundry there though, that was a quite expensive lesson I learned. Anyway, if (when) I go back to this amazing city, I will definitely consider The B, again. But maybe I'll bring a slightly smaller bag.
“Would definitely go back. Clean, convenient, and gets the job done.”
As above. Great experience.
“Beautiful and convenient place to stay!”
I highly recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, its great location and its friendly staff. This was my first time in Tokyo and I was traveling alone and I found this hotel to be a great introduction to the city. You have to leave the idea behind you that your going to have a roomy hotel room. You're not going to get that in Tokyo unless you shovel out a ton of money. The room was completely adequate for what I needed with a roomy, modern bathroom. It was in a great location, only a 5 minute walk from the train. I would definitely stay here again.
