"Beautiful hotel"
Stunning hotel and room, with fantastic views of the city and mountain range from the restaurant and terrace bar (and the rooms above these). Friendly staff who speak great English and who are very helpful. Shinjuku is a great area with lots of restaurants, shopping and nightlife. The hotel is conveniently located near 3 train/subway stations, nishi-Shinjuku is the closest on foot. Many of the taxi drivers said they didn't know where the hotel is, BUT taxis in Japan can often say this to foreigners as they have had problems with getting the fare owed at the end of the journey.

"Service Exemplified"
After making the initial reservation I realized I had to add a day to the beginning of the stay. I mistakenly reserved the first day at Hotel Monterey Group's other hotel, the Hotel Monterey Ginza. I did not realize this and was in the second day of the reservation when I realized I was in the wrong hotel! I went down to the front desk and inquired as to why I was not told of my error. The response was "We had the room available and did not want to inconvenience you." This is how customer service is done properly. They could have asked me to relocate to the other hotel that I had reserved but did not. I will not even consider staying anywhere else on my next visit to Tokyo.

"Great hotel for Akihabara travelers"
The hotel is excellent. It's close proximity to the Akihabara district makes it one of the best for those seeking to visit Akihabara while not having to spend money on a cab. The rooms are a bit smaller than those most Americans are accustom to but they are very clean and do what they need to do.

"great experience in the middle of it all"
This was something different! When we wanted to take a shower, we found out that there aren't any western style showers around, everything is communal! We were a little apprehensive at first (being naked around others), but no one cares, no one will look at you. The idea is that you're a guest at the sauna with a sleepover (capsule). You'll be requested to walk around in their attire (robes), and you'll have free use of the sauna facilities, which is great. There's a hot & cold pool, as well as a sauna. What is irritating is the procedure you have to go through when going out/coming in. At arrival, take off your shoes after leaving the elevator to the 4th floor. Go to the desk, check in (some staff don't speak english though), and you'll have to place your shoes in the shoes locker. After that, you'll be handed the luggage locker key (they're small, you may have to place any suit cases in the locker area). Each time you go out, you'll have to hand in your locker key, and you'll be given a piece of paper on which is written your locker number. When coming back, you have to hand them the piece of paper, you'll be given the locker key, and you'll have to change to the sauna robes... The place has a late 70s, early 80s feel to it, which I thought was great. The capsules are OK to sleep in.Do bring your ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. They don't have a lock! So keep your valuables in the locker.

"I did not want to leave."
It was the most relaxing, comfy and luxuriating experience I had during my visit to Japan, staying at this hotel! I had stayed at three other hotels and this hotel was the best! I knew it was going to be a hectic trip for me, so I booked a room at this hotel for the latter part of the trip to recuperate. What a wonderful stay it turned out to be--I deserved it and I got it, and then some! I did not want to leave!

"Excellent location & value for money"
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel Monterey hanzomon and had very few complaints. Firstly the location is excellent with the underground being right across the road. Also it was close to a very nice bakery just up the road and Starbucks not that much further. The room was spotless and the bathroom was very attractive and was very well appointed with handy things like shaving kits and toothbrushes and toothpaste. The bed was great too and room service was very efficient. The only 2 complaints I have was there was no gym and the breakfast was ok but this didn't matter too much with the bakery being so close.

"Great hotel close to Shinjiku station."
Everything about this hotel is good from my experience. Having been to Japan several times I know what to expect from hotels. Clean, efficient, great location. As a single traveler it's perfect. As a couple or family, you may want to go for the larger rooms as things are pretty tight in Japanese hotels. You will have to learn to live out of your suitcase as there are no draws or cabinets for clothes. A minor issue for me.
