Old hotel. Public facilities - bar and restaurant

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Cons: An austere welcome area. We booked in and were left to our own devices.
The room was billed as superior - It seemed rather average. Access to the room not easy and access to the bathroom poor - both had precipitous steps. An old building but no charm in the rooms!

Should be knocked down

Posted Sep 9, 2014
We stayed here for one night in September. The bathroom had mould around the tiles and the plug hole was heavily corroded and dirty. In fact everything was old, tatty and/or dirty. Even the spoon for the tea had avoided any form of cleaning since the last occupant had used it and was covered in a golden brown substance. Go elsewhere.

hotel in Tonbridge

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Jammer.

Room for improvement

Posted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: The staff were friendly. it was a central location and is well placed for visits to the local area.
Cons: See above, and in particular the plumbing in the bedroom where the shower was not working properly.
Location: Lots of local National Trust properties on the doorstep e.g. Chartwell, Igtham Mote, Scoteny Castle
Basically a lovely old style hotel with much to offer and great potential but sadly in need of some loving care to bring it up to the standard that people these days expect. The staff were all pleasant and friendly but the facilities - while adequate - were in some respects in need of improvement. In its present form the hotel cannot honestly be described as value for money.

Average hotel

Posted Sep 12, 2013
Cons: The hot water situation - no cold water to be able to get a nice temperature!
Nice ye olde style room with exposed wooden beams. Sadly a very tired bathroom suite that only ran scalding hot water in the shower with no cold available on the mixer tap. Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming. Car parking a little tight at times. Being in a room that faced onto main road traffic started up at 5am so quite noisey.

Over priced, under maintained

Posted Jul 30, 2013
The rooms are over priced for the comfort and could do with much tlc. Central location but not the best experience.
