Stopped here for a night on the way back to the UK from New Zealand. Great little hotel with real character and helpful staff. We liked the combined reception / breakfast / bar area. The free WiFi in the room was good too. The hotel is not in the city centre, but it's well-situated for the Botanical Gardens and trams routes into the city or out to the beach at St Kilda. There is no restaurant in the hotel itself, but there are several in the immediate area. We ate at Botanical which was excellent. If you're coming by taxi, make sure you specify that it's the South Yarra Park Street you want - there is more than one!

Concierge and front desk were very helpful. Rooms were immaculate and well kept.
Hotel location is fantastic. Lots of Cafes, restaurants and shops around & a small taxi fare or train trip to flinders street station. The pool is gorgeous and heated. Would definitely stay again.

My sister and I were unsure about staying at a hotel with shared bathrooms -- but the Claremont Guest House eased all of our worries. First of all, they have a dedicated staff who keeps the bathrooms clean, orderly, and stocked. Certainly some of the cleanest bathrooms in the world! Prokash & his colleagues are just excellent custodians! The dining room Is also well run -- kudos to Perla, the warmest and most friendly dining room host. At the front desk, Wendell was most helpful. Jackie, too. Well, all of the staff are very helpful. Sorry for not remembering everyone's names. Great location. So close to the train station, shopping and dining places. I Highly recommend this hotel!

My partner and I went away for a weekend getaway, staying in a Millswyn Double room. The rooms are very much as the photographs appear, and the king bed was unbelievably comfortable. The view from our 1st floor window was framed by the buildings covering of green vines, facing onto some gorgeous south Yarra town houses. It was quiet, and we slept peacefully. The Albany hotel was easily accessible via public transport, with a taxi to Crown Casino coming to $12-$15. Staff were very helpful with tram details, questions and service with check in/ out being quick and easy. The breakfast buffet was great value for money and the cooked breakfast was affordable, delicious with the amazing barista/receptionist making a mean latte. The dining room with the rest of the Albany having a Rock and roll, come American inspired Vibe. The rooftop pool area was a little bit run down, but I personally thought it gave the area a bit of quirk. The bathroom was a little small and outdated, but the use of mirrors and lighting makes it feel bigger. If you're after somewhere to enjoy your downtime between adventures, the Albany is for you. For the price you pay this place is gem, being right on Toorak Road made our stay feel a bit Special.
