“Topeka Capitol Plaza - nice stay”

Very nice stay. While we were not there long, the accomodations were very nice. We had booked 2 rooms,. both non smoking. Unfortunately, one had recently been smoked in, and therefore not as expected. However staff were responsive. I would definately stay there again. Adjacent to the Expo Center, and if I had an event there, I would definately stay at this hotel.

“Topeka hidden gem”

Great hotel for a great deal! Was unsure when we saw the side of hotel but front view and lobby were truly a 3 star. The room was very clean, could use some updating in furniture, and new wallpaper. Bed was clean and comfortable! Didn't try the breakfast buffet @ $13 per person. If you want a clean, quiet hotel away from Interstate/Turnpike traffic this is the hotel for you. Next door to ExpoCenter.

“Enjoyed my stay”

It is a beautiful hotel. Lobby is impressive. We had a king bed, the fitted sheet would not stay on. Shower handle came off. A/C sounded like a shower running non stop. Plenty of well lit parking.

“Issues”

Dust and hair around edge of the wall where the vacuum couldn't reach. Fitted sheets wrong size and came off as soon as you sat on the bed. Breakfast omelet cook was very pleasant.

“not impressed”

The hotel advertised a state of the art fitness facility. I got there: pool closed. And then, in the fitness room, 5 machines, but four of them were for legs only. Who furnishes a weight room with no machines for back or chest? Not even a set of free weights or a bench. When I complained at the desk a shrug of shoulders an a faint, "well, that's corporate for you." Next time I'll stay in a less expensive place and bring my own equipment. And, closing a pool in the middle a sweltering summer? come on.

“Wonderful Getaway”

My wife and I stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon. It was a nice hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had lost track of time and were in the pool after it was supposed to close, but the security guard was very nice about asking us to leave. Breakfast in the hotel the next morning was also very good. A decent size spread of food that was fresh. A nice start to the morning. No complaints from us.

“Surely you could do better for the money?”

The hotel was not very good--NOT a 3 star. Check-in person was really ho-hum and a bit unprofessional. The room was dingy and run down for sure! The A/C was not cool enough. The shower pressure was poor. I would say overpriced and overrated.

Area recommendations
No clue. The whole city is run down and dingy.

“Pleasantly surprised”

We found the hotel to be very clean and updated with new pillow-top matresses. One spot of wallpaper was peeling in our room, but that didn't bother me at all. The design of the hotel was a tower with the rooms and hallways encircling the lobby. so you could look over the railing outside of any room and see the lobby/lounge. Very nice until a late-night poker game carried noice sirectly up the column so it sounded like it was right outside our door. A call to the front desk remedied the problem. Pool was great, hot tub was not hot enough, and sauna was not working. I have become a real germ-phobe with hotels as I've gotten older, and this one was very clean. The small issues would not be enough to keep me from recommending it or returning if I were in the area.

“Won't go backj”

The hotel was lovely, BUT my husband has health problems that make it difficult for him to be in extremely cold climates i.e. very cold air conditioning and since we could not control the air condioning in our room, we were almost to the point of leaving. We were only staying one night to be able to attend our granddaughters baptism in Perry Kansas so he buried himself under the covers of the bed after we finally figured out how to turn off the fan in the room. Not everyone wants to be cold, nor can everyone tolorate those conditions. Had we arrived at say 7:00pm we would have booked elsewhere. I will not recommend your hotel to anyone.
