“AJ”
Hotel's sign was not visible from road; room was ok; nothing special at all about the hotel; low end type hotel.
“Mediocre defined”
There was absolutely nothing to recommend this hotel to others. Completely average and beat down. That said, there is a great walk around the nearby Lawrence Country Club Golf Course but that has nothing really to do with the hotel now does it?
“Needs updating, but clean”
This hotel was clean, but you could tell it is aging. For the price, it was a very comfortable stay as we only needed it for a place to sleep. The other perk is that the room came with a microwave and mini fridge.

Hotel was old, dark, and dirty. Hotel overall was in very poor condition - magnetic lock on outside access doors were broken, Half the lights in room were burnt out, tub/shower was in poor shape. No hot water available to shower with at 8:30AM on Saturday morning.

Looked nothing like the pictures. Poor condition and musty smell. Stayed for a week and never had hot water. Only positive was friendly staff.

When choosing a hotel we are concerned with price and accomodations. The hotel was advertised as having breakfast included. No breakfast was available unless we paid for it at the hotel breakfast resurant which smelled like cooked fish and old greasy griddels. as this was a two day stay and there were three adults this added an extra 6 meals we had not budgeted for. Internet was slow and we had to call the front desk for passwords. towels were clean but thin. ice machines were not located where indicated on hotel map. The hotel was adequate but not anything but adequate. The "handicap" room didn't have a roll in shower. The bed was about 4 inches higher than a wheel chair. the toilet was not raised. The bed was on a box and could not accomodate a patient lift.

The beds are comfy, the air conditioning is cold and the housekeeper was very accomadating.
“Needs work”
The carport and entry are not kept clean. Our room was neat, but smelled of smoke...we had booked non-smoking rooms. We realized this was because the rooms below us were smoking. The floor had been vacuumed but was not clean, I think the staff forgot to empty the vacuum bag. We asked for more towels to use at the pool and they were never delivered. We were not told to come to the desk to get them, the person I spoke to just asked for our room # and said "ok". Breakfast was simple, but good and plentiful, but the hotel looks rundown and was not clean. They did give us rooms close to each other when I requested at check-in.
“Basic motel, pleasant stay”
I brought my basketball team of 13 yr. olds to Lawrence for a basketball tournament. After reading reviews, I was a little nervous on what to expect. To my surprise, we had a great 3 night stay. Check in was smooth and when we entered the room, it was a basic motel room, but it included a fridge and microwave, which I guess I didn't realize they would have. The continental breakfast was very basic, but fine, considering it was free (cereal, toast, juice, rolls). They did have a good selection of hot breakfast items for a reasonable price. Maybe it was because I had such low expectations, but I was very happy and impressed with our stay. If your looking for a basic motel at a very low cost, this is more than adequate.
