Bathroom smelled moldy. Beds were stiff but it was a bed. AC worked well. Solid option if you can't afford one of the big name brands.

excellent

Clean, comfortable, updated, courteous staff and well priced. The staff even remembered us after only staying there one night 2 months ago. Only negative I can say is the ice machine is across from the main hotel. I can deal with that.

The front staff was very friendly, helpful. We requested a handicap accessible room which was as promised - super clean , had refrig and microwave - would definitely stay again

Nice remodel of older motel

Posted May 11, 2015
Pros: cleanliness, price
Cons: salt at breakfast
Location: Close to Kansas City, very handy to I-70.
Tile, counter, paint all seem fairly new and lend to a clean feeling. Breakfast is just continental but nicely done. The only problem I had was the imitation salt for the hard boiled eggs (so bring a salt packet or skip the eggs and you'll have a great stay). Excellent for the price.

Nice hotel overall

Posted Apr 28, 2015
Pros: I really liked how quiet the room was. For being that close to a busy street, the room was remarkably quiet.
Cons: One improvement might be the lighting in the room. It seemed a little dark
Location: Right off of 6th street in Lawrence, this hotel is relatively close to the University of Kansas. Lots of shopping and dining within easy drive
Hotel was nice, clean, quiet and easy to get in and out of. When we did have a problem with a light bulb, the staff promptly fixed it. The only real problem we had dealt with the TV which someone had messed up so it took a few minutes to correct that and then TV worked great.

Above average value priced hotel close to KU

Posted Apr 14, 2015
Pros: Nice bedding, clean, very nice staff...
Cons: Wifi was a little spotty
Location: Kansas University,
It's evident when you pull into the Virginia Hotel that you're not pulling into a 5 star resort - and that's okay. It is a clean, value-priced inn that puts you very close to KU and other Lawrence area attractions. The room was clean and well stocked with fluffy towels, quality bedding, and a TV with 100s of channels that all come in crystal clear. The staff was kind and our complimentary breakfast wasn't extravagant, but the pastries were fresh and the cereal crisp, the coffee was good and hot, and the bananas were perfectly ripe. If you are accustomed to and expect an inn with robes and turn down service - this isn't your place, but, if you are looking for a clean, nice place to stay on a budget next time you have business at KU- give this place a try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised!
