Small rooms and VERY COLD pool

Posted Feb 25, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Pool
The rooms are VERY small for a family of four. You have to turn sideways to get passed the beds and wall. Bathrooms were small but adequate. We chose this hotel for it's location and its pool, but my kids could NOT swim in it because it was so cold. We visited in February. There was ICE on the inside of the windows surrounding the pool which can only give you an idea how cold the pool was. Definitely a poor insulated pool and HUGE letdown for my kids.

Not what we expected

Posted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: It was close to the subway and all the staff was very friendly. Breakfast servers were very attentive.
Cons: Heat would be good... and proper tv and fix the elevators
Location: Went to aquarium and cn tower. Close to shopping as well.
The room was extremely small and very cold. Put the heat up to 85 and it didn't make a difference. Pool was so cold we couldn't swim in it. Went to use pay per view movies since we couldn't swim and were told that they were in the process of changing systems so unavailable. Half the elevators were out of service so we had to wait very long times to leave our room. Parking was expensive. 28 buck per day. Huge brown spots on the curtains. Then I went to Holiday Inn page to rate them and that was down for service too.

Very conveniant.

The hotel is right next to a grocery store, a drug store, many good restaurants and is less than a block away from the subway and the trams. So happy we chose this hotel.

Nice, but at times disappointing

Posted Feb 21, 2015
Pros: I loved the bathroom and the shower was amazing! The pillow options is great too, you can pick between firm and soft.
Cons: Individuals who have different names - preferred and birth - as long as there is the correct id should not be harassed and treated poorly.
Location: I was right downtown, and close to the subway which was nice - convenient for shopping and exploring Yonge St.
When I came to the hotel to check in, the clerk was very rude and talked over me while I was trying to explain the reason for the different names, between the name on the booking and the name on my ID. I used my preferred name, forgetting that I should have used my birth name. I was my mistake and I explained that to the clerk. However, she jumped to conclusions and wouldn't let me explain. When I finally got the chance, she registered me after talking the manager. But said, almost like she was my parent, that I should not do that again and that she would let me stay, this time. The clerk when I checked out was much nicer. When I explained that I was allergic to the soap in the hotel, she told me that I could explain that in my booking next I visited. The buffet should not be as expensive and a lot more accessible to individuals who stay this location.

Family Day Long weekend in Toronto

Posted Feb 21, 2015
The two kids and both of us went for a in city break over the family day long weekend. The check in in was quick. The parking is very limited and tight and is $28 a night. As Toronto was on a extreme cold warning, we decided to park in the hotel to save us a short walk and that the parking was underground. The building is dated specially the staircase and the underground parking. The room with 2 double beds was one of the tiniest I have ever stayed. The bathroom still tiny. The beds wreak and pillows too soft for all of our comforts. The room appeared clean but as we went along we say quite a few spaces that were not vacuumed properly with chips and stuff near the chair or under the bed. We stayed not he second floor and the rooms were not noisy - but if you stay downtown, you should expect it. The bed that was closer to window - we could feel a draft coming from the floor and the wall. We stuffed a sheet an towel to keeps the cold from seeping in. The thermostat was set up at 78 which is quite high for us but we did not feel it as perhaps it balanced the draft. Would avoid this property if I am staying downtown. But the proximity to shopping and restaurants is a plus

Reasonable hotel near downtown

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: the staff, warm room and toasty hall ways!
Cons: see above comments (heating- lobby, pool, change rooms; ensuring that phones work!)
Location: downtown. quick and easy to hop on the subway.
aside from the freezing lobby (all employees were dressed in winter coats, hats and mitts), the frigid change rooms and the chilly pool, not to mention that the hotel restaurant had to close down because they couldn't heat it, we had a great stay, due entirely to the friendly, helpful and well- humored staff. our room was next to the "party room" and that still didn't dampen our stay. we tried to call the front desk to remedy the situation, but the phone lines weren't working. you'd have to be well- humored to work at this location!!! the room was cozy and clean and the location couldn't be beat.

Compact, comfortable room. Close to amenities.

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Proximity to everything, including restaurants, shopping, bus and subway.
Cons: The windows are old, cold and drafty.
We stayed on what turned out to be the coldest night of the winter up to that date in Toronto. The room windows are old and very drafty and despite the thermostat being turned up to 78F degrees, the room was freezing.

Very Average

Posted Feb 12, 2015
Hotel is average at best but I wouldn't stay there again considering all the other good hotels in the area. My room was a shoe box, I had to turn sideways to walk between the bed and the desktop and I'm not a huge person. Clean and the bed was comfortable but you can get much better for the same price close by.
