Very comfortable and well appointed room.

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: The comfortable and nicely appointed room.
Cons: The dinner in the dining room was disappointing. With so many excellent restaurants nearby, they really need to upgrade the menu and quality.
Staff was helpful. Service in the dining room was excellent, but the dinner was especially disappointing. It was not up to standard of the hotel. We enjoyed walking on the grounds surrounding the hotel.

We usually love the Old Mill, but...

Posted Mar 16, 2015
I don't think we'll ever stay there in the "spring" again. The room was unbearably hot. We turned off the heating unit completely, as soon as we checked in (at 11pm, btw, the room was a sauna), and opened the windows. The heating unit remained off and the windows stayed open for two solid days, without any relief. We even left the curtains open to maximize airflow. It actually discouraged us from spending time in our room and encouraged us to leave the hotel as much as possible. We even considered leaving after the first night but had pre-paid the room for the entire weekend. When we commented to the front desk about the incredible warmth in the room, we were merely told that "there isn't a dual heating / cooling system" so it's a known problem to the staff and there was nothing to be done other than opening the windows and "hoping". We've stayed at the Old Mill several times but clearly never during this "weird" season. It is certainly something we will avoid in the future.

Very nice overnight stay. Room was clean and tastefully decorated. The main building is wonderful, lots of character. The perfect place for a wedding, anniversary, or special occasion party.

Lovely hotel on the banks of the Humber

Pros: Service, atmosphere, and location.
We stayed at The Old Mill for one night last week while visiting family. The place has been known for its wedding and event facilities for ever, but the hotel element is only about thirteen years old. Service was excellent, the room was fine with a nice view of the valley, and the turn-down service was a lovely little extra, complete with chocolates on the pillows. Continental breakfast was included and it was more than we neede. Again, the service was old-school --unobtrusive and very attentive. We'll definitely go back when we have reason to visit T.O. Bonus, the Old Mill subway station is just steps away.

Great hotel.

Lovely room, great amenities. Slight issue at the end where we were charged an extra $12 room servicing per day for two days without having had staff do any servicing for those two days.

Top quality inn with amazing rates

Posted Nov 4, 2014 on Hotels.com
My wife fell in love with the place immediately. The grounds, the rooms, everything is beautiful. Bonus points for the stereo speakers in the bathroom. A standard continental breakfast is included in the price, but the components are of a much higher quality than most places. It's a surprisingly good spread given it all fits on a single table. The entire staff is very courteous and helpful as well. The nightly rates are quite low for what you get. It's not without some cons though: 1. Location - It's about a $30 cab ride or 30 minute subway ride to downtown. There's not much else in the area (save for the river, but it was cold out when we were there!) If you have a car, this won't be an issue. 2. Overpriced food - We had a late lunch at the bar. My salad cost $15, plus an additional $11 for a tiny piece of overcooked chicken. Omelets for breakfast were $15 (but the standard breakfast was free and came with hardboiled eggs and other proteins, so I was fine). Those two issues were enough to downgrade from a 5 to a 4, but I would still highly recommend the Old Mill to anyone looking for a high quality location without ruining their wallet on the way.
