The hotel was more than adequate - no bells and whistles, but, clean, affordable and in a great location.

Nice affordable hotel in convinient location.

Hotel is located right across York hotel and Union station. Staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. Rooms are nice and clean. Bathroom was lacking proper ventilation though. Nice stay overall. Would go there again.

Microscopic rooms

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: Location and cleanliness are its only redeeming features.
The queen-sized bed took up nearly all the floor space in the room. The closet was just large enough to put my medium-sized suitcase on the luggage stand. Because the room was so small, there was no desk, nor was there any chair. The room contained 1) a queen-sized bed, 2) two night stands, 3) one narrow shelf under the window, 4) one small stool, and 5) a wall-mounted television. The only place to work is at one of the three small coffee tables in the hotel's lobby. There is no place to work in the room. The hotel has no parking of its own. The best parking is the municipal parking garage below the hotel; however, the hotel's own web site fails to mention this municipal lot. Instead, their own web site points guests to several private lots which are at least two blocks away. The Strathcona does not offer free wifi. Instead, they charge each day for access! Furthermore, every few minutes, the connection stalls for at least five minutes at a time. The Strathcona's downtown location does not make up for its microscopic rooms and the lack of amenities.

Hôtel tranquille et bien situé au Centre-ville de Toronto. Rien à redire, rapport qualité/prix location géographique excellente, troisième séjour à Toronto et toujours au même hôtel.

Had a good time at Strathcona Hotel, the only issue I had was the people protesting across the street well I was there I could here everything through my window but other than that it was a good hotel.

Room a little cramped but excellent location

Posted May 10, 2015
Pros: Location. Room rate. Rate for the buffet breakfast.
Cons: Room furnishings. Bathroom layout.
Location: Roy Thomson Hall is a three-minute walk away. Union Station is very close. So is Yonge Street. The bus station is 20 minutes' walk away.
The room was rather cramped, to the extent that there was no room for a chair nor a desk. Space was very tight in the bathroom. Room and bathroom were very clean. There was plenty of hot water. Room temperature was excellent. The rate for the buffet breakfast, which was quite good, was very reasonable. Hotel location was excellent. Close to Roy Thomson Hall, Union Station and major thoroughfares.

sound proof...

Posted May 7, 2015
Pros: location
Cons: sound proofing doors. will recommend untill they will fix this issue ; )
Location: cn tower, rogers center, restaurants.
good location... the only downside is that you can hear the people talking in the hallway so clearly. it would be a good idea to insulate the door from sound.
