“Highly impressed”
The Hotel beats my expectation for the price. it is clean and the staff are very friendly and willing to assist in anyway possible just for the asking.
“Cannot get fresh air into the room”
The hotel is located near many restaurants. The room was spacious but the mattress was very soft. I suffered a pain in the back after sleeping there for two nights. The window could not be open and I got no fresh air with the air conditioner.
“Comments”
Clean and ordinary...simple breakfast....very slow WiFi (almost useless). Airline lost baggage, hotel did not have any supplies of razors, toothbrushes etc. Arrived at 11pm, bar closed, no food available, area not ideal for late night restaurant hunting.
“a fabulous Chinatown stay”
located right in the heart of Chinatown; right next to Kensington Market and on the main Spadina Avenue streetcar line; you have access to everything you ever wanted. In toronto seniors travel on the streetcars for $2.00 with transfers good for an hour and a half; enough time to get to St. Lawrence Market and back. My room was upgraded to a suite for some reason and I did not ask; the continental breakfast was excellent with lots of goodies for kids as well as adults; enough to keep you going until lunch. check in is not until 3 so do not expect to get in early; check is at noon; so lots of time. If you are travelling by train you just hop on the Spadina Union Station streetcar right outside the hotel. all in all a very pleasant two day stay at a very reasonable cost for downtown Toronto
“Top quality, low(ish) price”
It would be hard to speak too highly of this hotel. For two first-time visitors to Toronto, it set an overall positive tone for the whole of our ten-day stay. The lobby, corridors and room were spotlessly clean and the hotel staff were helpful and attentive. We were not expecting luxury, but the level of comfort was considerably above-average for a hotel in this price-range. The central and colourful (Chinatown) location is interesting in itself and is within easy walking-distance of most downtown locations. Streetcar transport is on the doorstep and the nearest subway station is close by. The self-service breakfast is basic but again more than adequate. All in all, top marks to this hotel. Nothing wrong at all? Well, the lift was a little temperamental but, with a little patience and persistence, usually ended up by doing it was told.
“Great Location”
Clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. I wasn't expecting it to be on top of a Chinatown shopping mall, and didn't expect my window to be facing out into said mall, but once I got used to the idea I felt very comfortable and at home in the hotel. The bar in the hotel is practically nonexistent, and the staff in the "Comfort Zone" when I visited could not really speak English. The breakfast options were very limited, but we were still glad to have something available. Make sure you talk to someone at the desk about parking- we paid the hotel for our parking pass and we got a huge discount. We left our car in the garage during our stay and used public transport, but you can also get a special pass that allows you to come and go as you please. Either way, you will save a lot of money on parking through Super 8!
“Would Stay There Again”
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and neat and quiet. Parking was a bit expensive and continental breakfast was minimal, but these were not deal breakers. I would stay there again. Location is right on the trolley line which makes it convenient to everywhere.
“great value”
I think this place would be hard to beat value wise. Cons: The room wasn't spotless - but on par with most mid-priced hotels i suppose. Also, i had a security card issue at check-in. Pros: The room was large and comfortable. I really enjoyed the Chinatown location. Tons of restaurants, fun shopping, and a pleasant walk to CN Tower, downtown, & Queen Street. There were a few shady characters in the area, but overall I was shocked how safe it seemed and how hardly any panhandlers were around asking for money. A vastly different experience than DT Vancouver or Chicago or even Minneapolis. When I come back to Toronto again this hotel/neighborhood will be my first choice.
“Hard matrass”
Matrass probably too hard. Could not sleep comfortably enough. Wi-fi (inside room) interrupted for long periods. Breakfast probably too meager. Some sausage needed, specially for American guests. For Canada, even if anglo area, almost no French TV stations. Personnel very nice, courteous and helpful when available. Although Spadina St is an important and busy road, noise isolation was excellent. Fascinating China Town, where hotel is located, at a walking distance from historic downtown.
“I will be returning to this Hotel”
The People are very friendly. I was surprised that they take animals this gave it a great family setting. The hotel was also pretty quiet at night. Maybe I was just lucky. We stayed three nights and enjoyed the stay. Great place and Great Shopping.
