“great hotel for a good price”
very nice stay, hotel staff was very courteous, gave us a number of amenities and was very helpful.
“Good services”
Good service and nice location
“Not so impressed”
Great location. But the food in Toronto China town sucks. The 3 new Chinatowns in MARKHAM/Richmond Hills/Scarbough area have great authentic Chinese food. Another thing I don't like is parking is extra. $25/day plus tax.
“I will back.”
The location is very good, The room was clean and comfort.
“Sutton Review”
Nice hotel. Large rooms and well appointed.
“drab exterior, cute interior”
The location was great, especially for gay travelers that would like to venture out to Church St.; internet was $10.00 a day; the balconies had great views of the city; the staff was very helpful.
“Sutton place”
Great place to stay, great people, great price
“A wonderful hotel in downtown Toronto”
We arrived on a Saturday early afternoon with a Queen reservation. Due to a shortage of Queen rooms we were upgraded to a King and allowed to check in early. The room was large, light, and very clean with a new flat screen TV. Bathroom was also very clean. Bed was wonderfully comfortable and slept well. The only problem we had was with the new flat screen TV. The remote seemed to work sporadically. We called maintenance and they arrived in a timely manner. Maintenance tried several things to fix the remote - new batteries, new remote, other things behind the TV I couldn't see. Maintenance said the hotel is having problems with the new TVs - some thing to do with the reception site for the remote. He figured out that the TV and the remote needed to be a closer distance and proceeded to move the TV and cabinet closer to the bed so it would work properly. I think Maintenance did everything possible to fix the problem outside of getting a new TV. They solved it to my satisfaction. I highly recommend this hotel to any visitor - business or pleasure.
“good value for one night”
I could tell the hotel was quite grand back in the day it was built it does need a refurbish now but it is still a very nice, clean hotel! The lobby and lounge area are very grand and large. The restaurant looked very busy, though we didn't eat there. I would reccommend as a great location and good value, but probably wouldn't want to spend more then a couple of nights there.
“Less Than Impressed - Honeymoon”
My husband and I traveled to Toronto for our Honeymoon just three weeks ago and chose The Sutton Place because I had stayed at their Vancouver location last year for my birthday and had a wonderful experience (great, friendly hotel staff, concierge & special treatment--a piece of cake with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate around the rim of that plate--a small gesture, but very nice & memorable). The hotel was made aware that this was our HONEYMOON and not ONCE were we congratulated or shown any sort of extra courtesy. We were not looking for FREE PERKS, but we did expect the same sort of hospitality that was shown at the Vancouver location. Upon checking out of our hotel, my husband mentioned to the manager at the front desk that we were disappointed in the attitudes and lack of courtesy shown by the front desk staff throughout our visit and mentioned again that it was our honeymoon and we had really expected better service (even a congratulatory NOTE on the bed or even a SMILE would have been worth something!) He quickly informed us that "it's not their job to provide extra services to any of their guests." That was all he said. We promptly let him know that we would find another hotel the next time we travel to Toronto...even the Marriot at Niagara Falls (where we stayed for only one night during this trip) went out of their way to make us feel welcome. On a separate note, while the room was clean & hotel is centrally located, it is OLD and OUTDATED. DO NOT recommend!
