Nice Hotel in quiet location

Had an enjoyable 4 day stay. Relaxed atmosphere, clean rooms and helpful staff. Would stay there again.

Air con not cold enough, otherwise pleasant. Have stayed her before on business and it's been a bit deserted but this time there was a wedding going on. So a nice atmosphere. Does the job for a one night stay

A disappointment

The bedroom was very clean and adequate. The staff, of those available were very helpful and polite. The lack of staff is my main criticism of the hotel. The breakfast room should be on the ground floor overlooking the garden and pool not stuck in the basement with frosted windows sporting a damp stained wall below the windows. No staff, no help, if you needed it. The terrace reataurant was uninviting because it is situated at the furthest point from the double doors that lead from the main part of the hotel. I felt as though I was not really wanted at the restaurant because it was at the far end from anywhere and only staffed by two waiters (who were very good and helpful) but had to appear from a door some steps away from the restaurant. No staff were around to show guests where to sit and there was no real indication that this was the only dining room. In the main Reception area there is a comfortable looking bar and coffee type lounge. During my 5 day stay in peak season the bar was never staffed. Quite extraordinary. As one leaves the main building to go to the pool there is a terrace with easy chairs. A lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink or coffee. I had to ask reception to arrange for service. Not once but every day. We are talking about the peak of the season and there is no excuse for that. I booked the Spa Torre Pacheco because it is listed as a 4 star hotel.

Lovely hotel and perfect service. We only stayed for one night on the way to Mojacar and it was an ideal choice - very close to the airport. The menu in the restaurant was good value. Breakfast was great - we were the only people there!

Good quality albeit somewhat off the beaten track

Barcelo hotel was excellent for our purposes. The overall standards were very good and facilities on site were good. It is ideal for business and none beach leisure purposes and a car is necessary for access to it. It would also be beneficial for visitors to have some Spanish language abilities although most of the staff had some English capability. Access to nearby beach resorts and restaurants (hotel restaurant excepted) is approx. 15 to 20 minutes by car.

ISOLATED

We wanted a quiet and relaxing holiday but the Marie Celeste had more atmosphere. You could wait at the bar for 15 minutes for service, even if you went to reception and requested that they call for service. Only one of the two restaurants were open and the evening snack bar did not open until 8.30 pm. It was not possible to walk out of the hotel to visit any shops or restaurants as the roads were extremely busy and did not have any pavements. We did not have a car and were marooned at the hotel for the week. The food, once served, was well presented and on one evening when a meal was slightly salty but still edible they refused to charge for it and gave us a bottle of wine on the house. The room and en-suite batharoom were very large and beautifully decorated but the balcony was not big enough to to sit out on which was a huge disappontment.

Excellent hotel and service but make sure you hire a car

The Hotel Barcelo in Torre Pacheco is an extremely impressive hotel with 5 star service and a hugely recommended a la carte restaraunt. However, if on a holiday it would be advisable to hire a car as it is 5km from Torre Pacheco and 6km from the beach, therefore taxis can be expensive. However, on a business trip you would have no need to leave the hotel as it caters for everything. Furthermroe as Murcia is such an unknown resort the hotel staff's English is not great therefore a comprehension of Spanish or good phrase book is advised. Service even in Spanish is second to none however. Would definatley go back!
