Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: Good views and kind staff
Cons: Next time would like a room in the front!
Location: Very close to the centre of town and the Strand and most places worth visiting.
We have stayed closer in Town but this was not far at all and very comfortable

Comfort & hospitality PLUS

Posted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: Quiet end of town.
Cons: Very happy
Location: Metropole Hotel in front of accommodation and plenty of eating places 300 metres down the street.
Used as a rest station prior to early morning travel to meet an aircraft arriving from Tokyo at 5.20am. Checked out at 11.45pm much rested.

NOT WORTH IT.

we did not get a room that was worth $189.00. the view out the window was of a painted wall. could hardly see the sky. the plug in the bathroom had that much mould we didnt want to touch it. we felt like we had been given the staff quarters. wont book through hotels.com again.

Just what we wanted

Posted May 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed in OaksM for 6 nights while in Townsville and found that it was perfect for the two of us. We decided to have our breakfast in the room and as it had everything supplied as far as utensils and loved having meals on the balcony looking over the city. Staff were very welcoming, got the room tidied every day, and its location at the end of Palmer St meant we were close to many good restaurants, cafes and pubs. We'd sat there any time again.

Quiet & Comfortable

Posted May 5, 2014
Pros: Newly refurbished rooms, comfortable furniture.
Location: Located at the end of Palmer Street, the hotel is a short walk from restuarants and cafes on Palmer street and about a 20min walk into Flinders St in
Great sized rooms, including a 2 seater lounge and kietenette, about a 20min walk into town, clean & comfortable. I would definielty stay here again. Staff were easy to deal with, I had no problems during my stay.

Useful facilities

We have been travelling for over 2 months and getting laundry done can be difficult and expensive. The room has a washing machine and separate drier - brilliant idea! Especially as it is hot and the beach is near. Cooking facilities useful and table and chairs on a small balcony. We enjoyed our stay.

Great place to stay

Just stayed one night but was quite impressed. Location was great with all the eateries around. We were upgraded to a 7th floor room with a river view. Staying again on our way back.

Very dissapointed

Posted Apr 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
I was lured by the photo of the pool which in reality was a soulless, sunless, small pool with no space to lie to look at a non-existant view and overlooked by a shabby backpackers hostel. The hotel is remotely located next to a coal railway line/terminus and across the road are vacant abandoned blocks making it unsafe to walk to the hotel at night. In the 5 days over Easter my room was serviced for a single 5 minutes when the towels and soap were changed and the floor partially vacuumed. No surfaces were cleaned nor the bathroom cleaned. I will not stay there again. The staff offered to change my booking to the other more centrally located Oaks Hotel, but because I booked through Hotels.com and paid upfront, they could not transfer me. A lesson learned.
