Set in a lovely harbourPosted Nov 3, 2013
Pros: Good food, good location, good choice of restaurants within a few yards
Cons: Very limited english channels available on the TV. BBC world news and SKY news only. Everything else was Italian.
Location: I love mountains and if you dont mind a steep walk theres a lovely 2000 foot mountain behind the town with paths or a unmade road leading to the top
Set in a lovely harbour we enjoyed our 5 days here. Its a nice quiet town, the harbour has a number of restaurants and cafes to choose from a had a nice relaxed vibe. Ideal for people looking for a quiet break. Hotel is clean comfortable and the staff are helpful. Good breakfast buffet, all cold but an excellent selection. A few tips for travellers. 1) The taxi rank desk outside the airport will tell you its 90 euros for a cab to castellammare, and they will tell you buses don't run on sundays. Its all lies. Walk away from the desk and you'll be approached by a cabby direct, then haggle and you shouldn't pay more than 50 euros and buses do run on sundays though check the timetables in advance as they are not very frequent, even on week days. 2) If your staying in Castellammare you can get a bus into Palermo (Check out russo siciliy website for timetables etc) Return tickets are just over 10 euros and takes between an hour and 90 minutes depending on which bus you catch. 3) Lots of websites warn against driving in sicily consequently we didn't hire a car, with hindsight this was a mistake, the driving we saw wouldn't have been a problem and parking around castellammare was fine. Nothing I saw whilst there would have discouraged me from driving. Palermo is busy and bustling city but the traffic didn;t seem any worse than central London.

Pros: View from the room and closeness to sites we wanted to visit.
Location: Quiet part of town overlooking the harbour.
We had ocean view rooms ,well worth the little extra. Breakfast was the best on our 6week holiday. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great restaurants nearby.

Just the place for a wonderful breakPosted Apr 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
Brilliant location at the end of the harbour, close to the rest of the town. Room was fine, with side view balcony. Staff very friendly and helpful; breakfast was really good, a wide variety of foods and good quality. No restaurant, but that wasn't a problem with so many good, and inexpensive, ones nearby. Beach in front of hotel not really useable but the hotel's 'patio' area overlooking it and the harbour very pleasant. A lovely 'boutique' hotel that gave us an excellent stay.

Dependence perfect for family of 4Posted Nov 4, 2012
Lovely hotel, excellent staff and full of useful information when we arrived about the local bakery, best pasta, best pizzas and supermarkets. Great breakfast. Excellent ricotta. We stayed in the dependence which is a 5 minute walk up a short hill. The room was spacious and very clean. The only thing missing was a kettle so we could have a drink, and there was plenty of space for a sofa which would be a nice touch. Otherwise just perfect. Castellamare was definitely busy enough in early November. We thought it might be very quiet with little choice of restaurants but there was plenty of places to eat and shops open.

A typical Sicilian hotel.Posted Oct 8, 2012
Pros: We could live a little bit like the locals.
Location: Castellammare is a pleasant little seaside town close to Palermo airport and to the motorway and so is an ideal base for exploring western Sicily.
We stayed in the 'annex' building which is 200m up the hill in old Castellammare. We were in a small, typically Sicilian, street in a pleasant room with a balcony overlooking the street. We could hang our washing outside and look like real locals! There was no trafic noise - the street was a no through road for cars. There was limited hotel parking at the end of the street or a garage down at the hotel, however we preferred to park down a side road at the waterfront as we could avoid the one way system. There was a good restaurent within 100m or a wider choice of restaurents and bars on the waterfront. Because we were in the annex we did not use the main hotel facilities much. I would be happy recommend this hotel to a friend.

Room clean and comfortable but on the basic side - great location right on the marina.
