“Would be Great if you Play Golf or Ski”
The indoor pool was nice. Not crowded at all. Dinner was romantic with beatuiful sunset and excelent food, but a little expensive.
“Mixed Feelings”
The location is beautiful overlooking the hills and lake as long as you are on the south side of the hotel. People were freindly, rooms were adequate, but overal maintenance of the facility is really lacking. Metal roof flashing swinging in the breeze, wood rotting, and a few ants crawling across the bedroom floor definately detract from the surrounding beauty. Drunk teenagers out front of the lobby one evening offering my wife and I marijuana kinda put the icing on the cake (just spoiled kids the parents let get away with too much). But, we made the best of it since it was a short 2 day stay in that location with last minute planning. Hotel staff (Michael at the restuarant) was very freindly, and helpful. The hotel seemed to show only 5 or 6 rooms available, but for as big as this place is, and as few people that were there, I find it hard to believe this was not just a marketing ploy It did seem to fill up when we checked out Friday. I should add that this did have the largest and most well equipped fittness center of any hotel I have been to with respect to nautilus and free weights.
“Wonderful, would definitely return.”
Shanty Creek Summit Lodge was a great vacation place. Easy travel to other great locations like Travers City and the upper peninsula. The restaurant was one of the best in the area and the rooms were comfortable, clean and well equipped. We spent a relaxing week here and would definitely return for another vacation. The golf courses were beautiful and geocaches were ample. There are even hotel private geocaches not published on the website.
“Luxurious landscape, but not-so-luxurious service, amenities, facilities”
After challenging arrival at guest registration and quite a journey to find my room in one of the many buildings at the complex, there wasn't a soul in sight to assist with luggage. The guest room was clean, had a comfortable bed, and a balcony with table and chairs (nice place to have AM coffee). The need for a 'whole-resort' update could have been overlooked if resort personnel had been welcoming....maybe Shanty Creek is too big to make a better 'first impression' on short-stay guests.
“not a good experiance”
not happy with the non-reducted rate
“A Great Getaway from your Busy Life...”
Shanty Creek was such a lovely place that I sent them a thank you card. The staff was over accomodating and kind. The golf course (The Legend) was so beautiful. I'm so excited to go back this summer during the season. We had breakfast in front of enormous windows and our waitress was so enjoyable to talk to. Our room had a great balcony overlooking Schuss Mountain. Lastly, our bed was very comfortable! This is a great place to stay.
“Very impressed!”
This was the first time we had stayed there since the rennovation and we went there to see what had been done. We weren't disappointed - everything was beautiful. While some very minor details remain, this is once again a first class place to stay.
“very nice to stay in summer and or winter time”
very clean hotel and people there were very friendly and rooms clean and well kept. 2nd time staying there. will stay again if i go back to the area. price was right through expedia.
“Nice Place”
Nice place, had fun swimming & golfing. I would like to see how it looks in the winter as it opens as a ski resort. The selection of restaurants is minimal at the resort & in the town of Bellaire. One must make the 40 mile trip ( one way ) to Traverse City for more places to eat & at a lesser cost.
“Beautiful view and awesome staff!”
When we arrived at the hotel we were informed that the room was not reserved for a pet we brought along. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and found us a room inside the hotel (even though it was not pet friendly as we were previously told by phone) for both of us and our small pet. The staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and stress-free!
