Overpriced.
Old and old farm family house that needs major renovations. The room was spacious but the entire premises were filled with junk new and old that had nothing in common. Lovely location. Staff was friendly.

Alpine wonder
Simply magical in a wonderful Alpine environment. Good fresh air, green hilly area, old wooden house, typical Alpine. Staff is very kind and helpful, and a restaurant is also operating in the evenings with very good food, sweets. Calm area among the hills.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE-DOES NOT HONOUR YOUR BOOKING
HORRENDOUS! The room we booked was not honoured. We paid for a Deluxe Quad room with one double bed and 2 single beds for family of 4, inclu was SUPPOSED TO BE TV, wifi, balcony, separate seating area. What we received was a room with 2 double beds, no tv, no wifi, no balcony, no separate seating area, dangerous steps immediately outside of bathroom, no handrail up steep flight of stairs to room, toilet and shower visible to outside through plain window into a public seating area as curtains did not cover window, poor quality sheets, lamps not working in the room, one double fold out bed squeaked horrendous all night, the other mattress leaned heavily to floor as a poor quality showing its age. We complained, and the staff member on reception did not know what to do, offering to leave comment for the sister of the owner the following morning. Next morning, requested a meeting with lady, who was not wanting to listen to my complaints, stating, "so you want the room for free". I replied, happy to pay, IF we had room we booked. She was aggressive, dismissive of complaint. She explained the room was not honoured because it was given to someone else who had arrived and wanted it for more nights so changed our room booking to the one without everything. I explained she should honour a booking made via Hotels.com some months beforehand, and her response was, that was not how her hotel worked. Only partial refund given as she did not know how to refund card. Over to Hotels.com

Amazing renovated 300 year old villa in a vineyard
Amazing renovated 300 year old villa in the midst of the vineyard. We stayed for a transit overnight stay. Very friendly service, lovely restaurant, beautiful villa with greenery, lovely views, good walk in the vineyards, even the normal house wine was among the best during the trip, Nice to see a large Italian family having a event/party. Room was ok and the noise can be heard from another room - can’t compare to modern hotel rooms but hey that’s not what we booked it for. The kids really enjoyed the upper section in the quadruple room. Overall recommended!

This place is priceless, utterly charming, an old estate that has been in one family for generations now. It is truly family run, with one sister checking us in and a brother cooking our meals, which were absolutely delicious and fresh tasting in a way that none of our 4 star restaurants in Venice could match. The manor and grounds are picturesque and overgrown like a postcard or a painting. We wandered the vineyards for hours, it was like traveling back in time. What a find.

Guesthouse with character and ambience
My 17-year-old nephew and I stayed here and we both really liked the old historical feel and ambience of the place. It is in a rural setting and we drove to get there. It was perfect for both of us as there was a bed up in a loft for my nephew and a bed downstairs for me. We had dinner and it was good, and the breakfast was also very nice. If you come, be prepared for an experience of staying in older buildings with character...don't expect AC or wifi that reaches all the rooms (you can access wifi in the restaurant or patio). We loved staying here and being surrounded by flowers, vineyards, and old stone buildings and antiques.

wonderful place to experience
where to start? an absolutely amazing place, very difficult to find but so worth it once there! part way up a mountain, in the shadow of the dolomites overlooking a vineyard, the lushly planted grounds and stone buildings from 1600 are stunning. we enjoyed wandering around the buildings, courtyards, paths, gardens. hosts mariana and brother andrea were very friendly and enjoyable to talk to, telling us the history of the place and their family's involvement in it. mariana took us to our room which we never would have found on our own, down twisting hallways. but the view looking down on the vineyard and to the mountains was stunning. dinner in the on-site dining room was excellent, as was the extensive complimentary breakfast served in a charming stone building across the narrow driveway from the dining room/reception room. our room was very comfortable, large room, large bathroom, very private. loved our stay here!

Wonderful stay
We stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The B&B is in the middle of the vineyard and has amazing mountain view. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The entire place is furnished with antiques so if you like bland corporate hotels, this is probably not for you. We loved the unique style of this property. We had dinner in the restaurant on Saturday night and it was delicious. The lady who runs the place is so helpful and made sure we were comfortable. Greatly recommended.

Great, interesting and quirky hotel
A 'very different' hotel experience in a hillside villa estate on the outskirts of Trento. The rooms are within an annex to the main villa, which looks like a large Alpine chalet. It is very quirky, in a nice way. It is a veritable maze of passages filled with eclectic antiques and ornaments. Although quite rustic, it has a vast amount of character. The dining hall is an elegant, vaulted cellar and the breakfast room is in a well appointed farm building. In warm weather there are covered verandahs with scenic views of the vineyards, hills and mountains. The owner is a lovely lady. The evening meals were of outstanding quality produced by her chef brother. Note that the hotel is a little difficult to find, a sat-nav is essential. Right on the edge of a vineyard, the entrance is down a gravel driveway and through an impressive stone archway gate.

We booked 3 rooms with balcony for 3 nights. However we were allocated to 3 attic rooms without balconies. Air con is not working in the rooms so it was very hot during the day. Bathroom could do with an update. Toilet seats are not fitted properly. We had a laugh about this. Rooms had almost everything we needed for the stay. Food is serviced in the restaurant. Very tasty food but The portions are on the small side. The hotel is beautiful and situated in a very scenic location.

Beautiful
This was one of the most beautiful hotels and settings I have ever stayed in. That being said it is hundreds of years old and reflects such. It does not have the modern amenities we frequently expect. I have traveled to over 40 countries over the past few decades and enjoy staying in a variety of locales ranging from small mom and pop places to 5 star resorts. This is definitely unique and a place I will always remember (In a good way). We have a twelve year old son and daughter. This was their favorite place on our recent 12 day trip to Europe. The room had a loft they slept in which they felt was fun.

A piece of paradise in Northern Italy !!
We landed in Locanda del Bel Sorriso almost by accident (last minute booking) on our way from Rome to Munich. We found an old country house (mansion?) nailed on the side of the Dolomite Mountains, overlooking viniadrs, streams and fruit trees. We were warmely received by the owner Mariana and her lovely daughter Diana. We were told that since the cook was off that day we could either go down to town to eat or stay and have a "simple dinner" at the place which Mariana prepared herself: a three course meal with homemade grappa to finish !!! The next mornig after brakfast, she offered a walking tour of the sorroundings, Not only would I recommed Villa Bertagnoli to stay, I will go back for a few days !!1

In Italian Experience
The rooms are old, the beds are not comfortable, and the bathrooms were not by any means fancy. But I would stay there again as it was a truly remarkable experience being at an Italian Inn in the midst of the vineyards with a view of the beautiful Dolomite Mountains. The staff was kind and even though they spoke little English, they felt like our friends at the end of our visit. The breakfast was delightful and had a lot of variety too. The Inn was gated and I felt comfortable parking our rented Mercedes there. I may never have the opportunity to stay there again, but if we are in the area, I would definitely stay there again.

Happy camper
Our stay here was wonderful, this 300 year old hotel is on a hill surrounded by acres of vineyards and hills overlooking the valley just 10 minutes from downtown Trento. If you are looking to stay in a beautiful peaceful place full of charm this is it. The restaurant serves excellant Italian dinner at a low cost. The free breakfast was traditional italian. We were only disapointed that we could not spend more time at the hotel.

nice 16th villa
The hotel is a 16th century villa with private gardens and lots of flowers. it is a very nice and quite place to relax. however beeing an old villa, the rooms might not suit everybody. we found our *deluxe* 4 bed room very very small -and bit smelly- and not according to the website photo! The owner was very friendly and has offered a bootle of wine in return. I would recomend this place and would come back - maybe in a bigger room

Watch out
The hotel was an old place and had an antique feeling to it. I was pleased with the rooms and the service was great. The staff were warm. Everything was great, and the price is cheap for the kind of experience. If you are wondering what is the catch, here it is - "Beg Bugs." In an otherwise nice place, bedbugs caused a nightmare. The staff did not seem to bother much about it either. I would strictly recommend you against choosing this place.

Nice concept but needs TLC
This is a very old estate that has been turned into a hotel and restaurant. Staff was friendly but the property was not well kept and was dark and dinghy. Granted it is an old building but a little northern Italian care wouldn't be too hard to do.

Stunning family run retreat!
What a beautiful place! A backdrop of lush mountains and vineyards despite being only 10 minutes from the autostrade made this a convenient stay yet felt more like a hidden gem! We stayed up after all other guests had retired for the night talking with one of the owners sons, an interesting and well travelled man. A morning walk in the vineyards with breathtaking views completed a memorable stay. We'll be back as they had run out of home made grappa to sell us!

Nice, hospitable hosts; all did everything they could to make us feel welcome. Others have already described the inn (rustic with some modern touches) and the surroundings. I will only emphasize the cleanliness (at least our room was spotless, thank you) and the breakfast which was fairly basic, especially by european standards. Easy travels and best of luck to all, including the nice, hospitable workers at this inn!

Wonderful facility, even though a bit rustic. Excellent dinner, very nice local wine, and Italy's best grappa (the heart of the vineyard's operation). We look forward to coming back and staying longer, without the kids along.

Nice stay at a vineyard
This place is like a postcard. Beautiful Italian country elegance!! The restaurant was delicious and the wine was exquisite. The only problem was the ceiling height. The room we stayed in had 3 low points in the ceiling and we both still have good sized bumps on our heads 3 days later.

beautiful rustic estate/ STUNNUNG VIEWS
super cordial owner Andreas and very friendly staff. a bit warm in summer & could have used room fans but that would be the only neg. rooms are sparse but large/clean and in-suite toilettes with showers. the vibe is totally authentic on this working Grappa vineyard and perched on a mountainside the views of the mountains and the morning continental on the balcony are as relaxing as it gets. Loved the two days we were there ! !

A rare experience
An amazingly beautiful setting among the vineyards in a hundreds of year old villa. The owners and staff were wonderfully pleasant and made our stay amazing. The food served in the restaurant is second to none, complemented with their own wine and grappa. The setting, the food and the service made this a highlight of all places we have stayed throughout Italy.

Interesting and Different Place to Stay
Well, we LOVED the owner and his family was lovely. His wine is GREAT and the dinners in his on site restaurant were both affordable and delicious. The house itself is a large old rambling house turned into hotel. The rooms are decorated in old pictures, cross stitch and you feel like you've gone to visit your grandmother in the country. All of that I loved. The problem is there is little to keep you from hearing the people in the other rooms and our neighbors had screaming babies. He should really consider putting children in another section of the house to protect those of us who don't have little ones from the noise. Oh, and he owns a few roosters. All of this can be solved by bringing along your ear plugs. I'd really emphasize that the place is amazing and these drawbacks don't offset the unique stay we had there. Just go prepared and enjoy!

Original and eccentric
A great villa on the hill overlooking Trento. The villa is old and full of character but needs a lot of work. We stayed in part of the main villa with walls covered in original paintings. We had two toilets off this room, one toilet with wc and the other with the wash hand basins. Buffet breakfast was ok. Be prepared for a stay in a truly eccentric place.

Beautiful Surprise
My wife and I were traveling by train, so we didn't have a car. We called the hotel to get directions. They told us which bus to take, and to call them from the stop. When we called they came and Picked us up. The staff were so nice. And the room and the villa itself were absolutely stunning. What an awesome place in the hills south of Trento. If you're considering staying here do yourself a favor and book it... It would have been way more convient if we had a car, but the bus and the train worked out fine...

A room with character
We had large loft room with 4 beds. Would be fine if everyone is short in your group. Was a real challenge for 6'1" who could smack his head on multiple beams. Lots of steps up to room! Free internet was great, but had no reception in our room and used internet out on the covered walkway. Great view and lots of history. Window box flowers were very cheery and added to the atmosphere. Breakfast had lots of choices and had much Tyrol influence. Dinner was OK, nothing fabulous but reasonably priced and service was good.

Great views, comfortable hotel.
My wife and I stayed here for one night in April 2012. We had a large room upstairs at the rear of a 15th century part of building. Access to the room was via external stairs and walkways which were a bit rickety. The room looked unfinished with some rough timberwork on door frames and other areas. The bed was comfortable but the pillows too thin for our liking. Our room had an extra bed and a small table & chairs, and a small flat screen TV. The bathroom was small but adequate. Noise suppression was not good and we could clearly hear people in adjacent rooms talking. Wifi is free but there was no signal in our room, but it worked OK in the corridor. There is secure parking in the grounds but take care on the driveway as it is very narrow. Good buffet breakfast spread of cereals, meats, cheeses, breads, pastries and slices.

Bel Sorriso - Indeed!
This unique, rustic villa is a little out of the way (best to just take a taxi if unfamiliar with the area), but completely worth it. The staff are very friendly, accommodating and helpful and do everything from show you to your room, host villa tours, and take your order at dinner. Everything you need is on-site, dinner in the main hall, and a separate breakfast nook with a wonderful morning spread. Rooms are quiet, cosy, spacious and quaintly decorated with modern touches, patio and full kitchenette. The view of the mountains and neighboring vineyards is unbeatable and don't forget to try the grappa!
