Cons: Cleanliness and staff attitude
Location: Very close to Meteora and all the monasteries.
Upon arrival, we found bathroom obviously had not been cleaned and staff tried to say we had dirtied it !! Hairs in bath and a piece of left over soap on bath which was still wet and in a pool of water; also bathroom floor was dirty. No toilet paper (had to request this) nor were bathroom essentials provided. Staff never even apologised after our complaints.

Good value accommodationPosted May 5, 2014
The hotel was in a great location for us, close to Kalambaka tavernas and also the rock climbing. The bed was comfortable and it was good having access to a share kitchen. There were some language barriers with the staff, but they were lovely.

A great quiet cozy placePosted Mar 31, 2014 on Hotels.com
Mariana was a fantastic hostess! She helped us sort out our train ticket issue, she had local information for us, she really made our stay enjoyable. San Giorgio is a bit of a walk from the village center, but not really far. It's quiet and peaceful. 3.5Euro for the breakfast is a great deal, the bread is fresh from the bakery!

very good hotel - friendly servicePosted Jun 6, 2013
Pros: the service
Very good value for money - good and friendly service (especially the young woman orginally from Rumania who checked us in) - good location (just below one of the large and very imposing rocks - recommended; a great alternative to the standard tourist and faceless hotels.

Nice little buildingPosted Jun 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Not in kalambaka, but in a quaint town next door (15 minute walk) and its a nice walk. In Kalistri, which is where lots of online reviews say you should stay, it's away from the 'past track' of town. Nice, quiet, and Internet is meh, but you're not there for Internet, right? I has asked for a two bed room, and when they showed me a single bed, an I showed my reservation they instantly upgraded me to another room. That was really nice of them. The upper rooms have balconies and the Lower rooms open to a common patio. There are 'living room' common areas on each floor that are really quaint. I would stay again if it was for a leisure trip. More active hiking I would probably want to be closer to town just for busses/convenience.

Wonderful view, quietPosted May 26, 2012 on Hotels.com
One of the hotels nearest to the monasteries in Meteora, so the setting is other-wordly and beautifully absorbing. Several tasty open grill restaurants nearby on the main road (be warned that portions are huge). The room was clean and cool, but the bathroom floor continually collected water, as did the toilet paper roll sitting on top of the radiator--was mist condensing from the radiator?? we could never find the source of the problem--independent of running the shower. Hotels.com indicated free breakfast was included with the room, but all guests are individually served toast, cheese, cold cuts, and boiled eggs by table, without menu selection, and charged for it.

San Giorgi Hotel in Kastraki, MeteoraPosted Oct 10, 2011 on Hotels.com
Our stay at San Giorgi was excellent. Despite a language barrier the host was young and extremely helpful with everything we needed, even washing and drying our clothes without cost. She was great. The location was great, isolated but a perfect base for climbing and visiting the monasteries. Definitely recommend for others wishing to stay near meteora.
