Lovely hotel

Posted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: I love the location and the friendly staff
I stayed at this hotel for a week in October and I enjoyed the experience tremendously. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The rooms are clean, spacious and inviting. There is such a nice mixture of modern with a mic of nature with the greenery around the hotel.

Bathroom was a bit small in the room with a king bed. The quality of the buffet breakfast has gone down a bit. The building is starting to show its age a bit. But all in all, i still had a terrific experience - clean, relaxing, very comfortable.

Disappointing

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: The Staff
Cons: No Airport Shuttle, Extortionist Taxis Laughable hotel food and drink prices. The concierge was never available.
Location: the location necessitates that you take taxis, the taxis are very expensive even by western or European standards.
When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised as the hotel presented quite nicely, it's lay out and lobby are all attractive. The staff were very helpful and I found them generally to be of great help. I had however the following issues: -The water in the shower would not get more than warm, no hot showers. -I was charged 6.35USD for a simple cup of coffee in the restaurant, that's not including a tip. I expect if I'm in Dubai, Switzerland, Norway that I will pay prices like these, but to charge that kind of money for a simple cup of coffee, I found was kind of ridiculous. The same was true, of the liquor, and the food. Way way way over priced compared to normal rates. Hotel prices are normally premium, but that's taking it too far considering where we were. -Elevators were broken by my room, so I had to take a long convoluted way there, or take the stairs. -My 'balcony' overlooked , a storage area for construction materials, and it smelled so bad we could not spend time out there. -The wi-fi was generally spotty. We had 3 devices, a laptop, an iphone and galaxy smart phone, the wi-fi was on and off for all of them. The cab drivers that served the hotel. I took taxis in the city and found to my surprise that the prices were a 1/3 of what I was paying to the taxis from my hotel. They extort tourists staying at this upscale hotel. -The Concierage was never available, I spent a lot of time waiting and looking for them, and never got service, the bell boys were helpful however.

Needs Attention

Posted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Cleanness
Location: Best location
The overall hotel needs attention, areas such as the pool and the stairs were dirty. Inside the room, the bathroom has that horrible odor that comes out of the sink holes, it was terrible i couldnt leave the other not even slightly open. Construction signs said it began on April, we are on September and i did not a see one worker. Food was extremely expensive, 37 US dollars plus tax for a buffet breakfast.

Not with the times

Posted Sep 24, 2014
The hotel was ok but it was a joke when it came to Internet . The free wifi in lobby was a terrible service only 0.5 Mbps . And if you pay the so called room access internet you will pay a lot of money for the same speed. Disgusted as today internet is so cheap .and available

Nice hotel accomodations, amenities, and room was

Posted Sep 24, 2014
Pros: I purchased an Executive King room, $10 more than reg room; enjoyed the Executive Lounge for continental breakfast, drinks, & evening hors d'oeuvres
Cons: Hotel floors were in reverse order; an explanation upon arrival would have been great to minimize my confusion when selecting up or down at elevator
Location: Hotel had a nice view of Trinidad and distant ocean view from outside seating area from Lobby
Hotel was clean, staff were very nice, and service was excellent
