“Great hotel for a visit in winter--or anytime!”

I chose this hotel based on location and availability for a long weekend (3rd week of January) to go to the Tromsø International Film Festival and see other Tromsø sights. I recommend it! Great location a few steps from Aunegården cafe; 5-10 minutes' walk (depending on snow and ice) from the outdoor film area and Fokus Kino. Practically right around the corner from the Rica Ishavshotel for the airport bus and the northern lights bus.

“Very comfortable and friendly hotel”

We went to the Clarion Bryggen over Christmas 2007 and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was of a reasonable size and comfortable and the rooftop jacuzzi and relaxation room a great place to enjoy the view of Tromso. There was also a good variety and standard of food on the breakfast buffet. Good service and value.

“Not 5 Stars, but More Than Adequate”

The room was average and on the small side, but with stains or marks on the carpet. It was obvious that the hotel had seen better days. Also, there was a rather hideous picture on the ceiling above the bed. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the free internet access was a plus. The hotel is wonderfully located on the waterfront and close to the Polar museum and the center of town. There were some very good restaurants nearby. The full, free breakfast was very good also. It was more than adequate as a place to lay your head at night and eat breakfast in the morning. We were more than satisfied.

Das Hotel ist sehr zentral gelegen. Die Einkaufsstrasse und Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu Fuss gut erreichbar. Das Hotelpersonal ist nicht sehr freundlich. Der Weckruf wurde nicht ausgeführt.

“Not Great.”

Just had 5 nights and this is not a 4* Hotel. Cleanliness is poor, dining room chairs are just filthy. Room make-up is haphazard. Dining room and food is basic. Breakfast table setting amounts to a knife and fork on a serviette. No table cloths etc. Food is also fairly basic, and amounts to some cereals, fruit and a "hot" selection. Just how can you serve cold fried eggs every day! Hot tub and sauna are good unless unless you arrive after party time. Expect it to be strewn with beer cans.
