Odd little town

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: The hotel itself was OK; room etc
Cons: I don't know if we struck the restaurant next door on a bad morning but it wasn't very good. If the hotel maintains that relationship with the restaur
Location: Bryce Canyon National Park, Kodachrome Basin State Park
When searching "Bryce Canyon" accomodation we found this place. In many senses it's a world away from the Bryce Canyon National Park. The hotel was OK; the oddest things was having breakfast at the restaurant next door (where the hotel paid for breakfast). The quality of the food was poor and the service was worse.

Our stay in Tropic, UT. at Americas Best Value Inn

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: Reasonably close to the Bryce Canyon National Park. Close to a reasonable restaurant Relatively quiet and a good AC Ample parking
Cons: House cleaning. Wi-Fi availability. Goofy TV channels - Cable and OTA - no instructions on how to switch these & TV channel list not correct or co
Location: Bryce and Zion are close and are spectacular National Parks and treasures. It appeared the US residents were in the minority.
We made our reservations over one month prior to our stay, via Expedia. We wanted to reserve a room intended for physically impaired people, due to some difficulties we have. We were the first people to register on our date, around 4 PM and requested such a room. They told us that they did not have one available for the 2 days we were staying as the only such room had been booked. For us the most important feature are the grab bars in the bathtubs, to prevent falls. Finally they found a Shower Chair, which fit the bathtub and served the purpose. For this we give them kudos. (I could not find on the Expedia page provisions for such a request). We did stay at the location. Overall the stay was acceptable but: 1. Wi-Fi was available in spurts. On the day it rained there was no Wi-Fi -- we were told that their system is sensitive to rain or lightning!!!!!! 2. The breakfast was served in a restaurant next door, and we were give coupons for it. We could order 4 items from a list of possibly 15. Not quite what we expected, as we had to drive there, given the unpaved parking lot, and the difficulty one of us has with walking on loose particles. 3. On our day of departure, at 9 AM, the office was still not staffed, so we left the keys in the room, and hoped of the best. 4. Room cleanliness was good, although a used wash cloth was found hanging from the shower and two large spots on the carpeting were glaring at one, right by the entry.

Our stay from 7-11 till 7-13

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: The beds were super comfortable and the rooms are cozy. It is beautifully located and close to the NP. I loved to have breakfast in the little curtyad
Cons: They should get rid of the elderly lady at the front desk. Great customer service is clearly nothing she seems to be familiar with, pretty arrogant.
I liked the hotel itself, very affordable room rates, clean and easy to find. The meals in the restaurant are a little pricey. The elderly lady who checks you in loves to give you her attitude and is rather arrogant. She isn't a great fit for customer service at all. The second time, I made my husband talk to her, that much of a bad feeling she triggered in me. She is all other than a nice person.

Best value inn

Really for those on a very tight budget. Hotel shows its age. Go if you don't really have an option. Hotel staff are excellent.. But there is only so much they can do.

Functional rather than comfortable

Posted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: Staff and cleanliness.
Cons: Upgrade the air-con units.
Location: Bryce Canyon, Utah state highway 12.
Tropic is very handy to Bryce Canyon without all the expense or commercialism of the Ruby's Inn complex. The Best Value inn is a value alternative for staying near Bryce. The facilities are adequate but spotlessly clean. The motel appears well managed and the staff are friendly and helpful. You can eat at Clarkes next door which also has basic eating with good servings size. Some of the staff are lovely, others less so. Great spot for a night or two to explore Bryce Canyon.

We had a great stay!

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: The rooms were nice and the beds were comfortable. We were happy there was a restaurant right next door and that we received a served free breakfast.
Cons: There were a few hairs in the corner of the bathroom. Not a big deal because everything else was spotless.
Location: There is not much in town but just a few minutes up the road was Bryce Canyon. There were also a few ATV tours advertised in the area.
The staff was very friendly and efficient at check in. We enjoyed the complementary breakfast. We were expecting the usual free breakfast set up- a few items laid out for us to serve ourselves. It was nice to find out it was a served breakfast at the restaurant next door.

Very charming motel, great location

Very Friendly staff, clean rooms, great view. Beds are not that comfortable though. Also it's hard to find food after 9pm so take it into account! Very close to Bryce Canyon.

It served its purpose

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Hotel is about 20 mins from Bryce Canyon - and served its purpose as somewhere to stay to access Bryce but not the closest accommodation Room was okay - nothing flash but expected more for what we paid. Bed was uncomfortable and it wasn't a Queen bed that we were used to - much smaller. Served its purpose as a last minute booking as closer hotels were all booked out but wouldn't hurry back

Not the best hotel, good enough for one night but the room smelled like old...but I learned that is the norm for hotels around the State Patks. I wish they were better!
